I have done this on and off for years....since I saw Steven Perkin's and Jimmy Chamberlin do it in the early 90's.

The advantage to me is that it allowed my to set up the rack toms a bit lower....

One question though...Why wasn't Terry Bozzio invited to audition? That would have be incredible to see, and probably made sense for that music. Although...he would have been in full 'interpretative"...

I spent some time with Derek Roddy last year at the Drum Road Trip in Upstate New York. So I was super excited for him to see that he got called into audition...if for no other reason than it would...

Tab writing is like shorthand. Which has it's place I suppose.

My problem with drum tabs is that is does not show note values. It shows bars in 16th notes and the attacks within that bar, but not...

The disco beat found a new home in INDUSTRIAL MUSIC. Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, RevCo, Skinny Puppy -- they all have used the disco hi-hat to great effect. In that music, it does not sound wimpy!

You might want to look at the Kindermusic curriculem. It involves lots of clapping, counting and singing games for pre-schoolers.
