Re: club date se

Good thing too, as that snare I linked jumped to $230 just minutes after linking here.

Note to self... Stop linking auctions if I wanna snipe them.

Re: club date se

There was just a Club-date blue oyster snare on GC used for $149.99. You missed it by a day.

You might wanna hit the thrift sites. While this may not be exactly what you're looking for.....

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

Neat, it kinda looks like the 2035 is derived from the 3035.

I used to see the 2020 for $79.99 and the 2035 for $99.99 on the web, but am having trouble finding those deals. I think B&H used to...

Re: Most resonant / warm drums?

I own a Renown, and love it. If I were going to play Jazz, I would have gotten a Gretsch "New Classic" instead or saved my pennies for a Brooklyn or vintage USA. Used/Clearance is really good right...

Are you certain they're wood and not just steel painted black?

Re: extreme tom angles and snare tilt

I've seen the cymbal thing before. It 'apparently' forces you to crash them properly instead of coming straight down on them. I was unable to get acclimated to it in the 48h I tried it. Hitting...

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

If someone wants me to move the SM57 out front or overhead, or has a quick config that's not a PITA for me to set up, just ping this thread. The 57 is technically a higher quality mic, but not...

Re: The Bo Eder Pearl Vision Signature kit ;)

Make sure to write the signature in HUGE letters

Like custom drum builders do.

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

SM57 is a highly directional dynamic mic. I have one here that I use for snare and will record with both in a moment. My gut tells me that the 57 won't do Tchad well.

Edit: Uploading to youtube...

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

It is perfectly suitable for Tchad Blake. I can probably make a sample tonight if you wish.

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

Audio Technica AT2020

You can find them new for as low as $80. Used for $50. For the price, you could grab two of them. One overhead, one in front of the kick.

Re: club date se

Element SE is 5ply 7mm cherry/gum
Club Date SE is 6 ply cherry/gum

I suspect the difference is subtle, but they are not the exact same shells.

Re: Recording yourself with a track

If you use a Mac, Garageband has a Movie-track, and you can drag in the original audio track. It's quite easy. If you have multiple video streams (cameras, takes, etc), do them up in iMovie.

Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

In this day and age, youtube videos are the product, and revenue is acquired through ads. There is no longer a need to release albums. There's no need to even create an album. You can make a...

Re: Acrolite - Snare Bed?

Interesting. I've seen the crimping on the shell of old 60's COB supras. These Acrolites look like someone:

1: Removed the reso head
2: Placed stick inside the drum and lined it up with...

Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

There's always a jump between the person and their persona. Just ask Bill Cosby or Santa Clause at the mall. There's always disappointment when you see something without it having been produced. ...

Re: club date se

I had a look at the 2014 'Jazzette' club dates at GC. It had a pro feel and the snare reminded me of a Pioneer. I had the same feeling about them as I do my Renown. It's looks, feels, and sounds...

Re: dumb question about keyholing

I've only ever seen people do this to already-cracked cymbals, in order to keep the crack on the opposite side.

Re: dumb question about keyholing

Keyholing is caused by the friction of the cymbal meeting and rocking against a steel cymbal post. To remedy this, you can grab a plastic cymbal sleeve for about $1, or some tubing at home depot. ...

Acrolite - Snare Bed?

I'm looking at three Acrolites at the moment. Two of them have a upward bend/rise in exactly the same place on the innermost portion of the bearing edge under each side of where the snare wires lay....
