Re: A re-statement of the obvious

Minions were engaged, but it was still hard work :(

Fabulous band name ;)

Re: A re-statement of the obvious

Is that a "feels like" age Larry?

I just got back from a tech rehearsal - working through setting up all new PA front end & monitoring. Lots of gear to move around / setup / break down & haul. ...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

No percussion part in our new single = I'm screwed. On a plus point, there's no wind chimes either ;)

Re: Snare Drum Comparisons

I assume the standard position snare is getting picked up by the bass drum mic? I can certainly hear additional & slightly disconnected bottom end compared to the remote snare. Both sound good...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

I'm now super hesitant to post our new single release here. Guess I can sneak it under the radar in the your playing section / ghost village ;)

Re: I suck at power ballads.

Hmmm - no "power" element to this, but it's certainly a ballad, & modern, & IMHO, wonderful. Recorded in one of my favourite places https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpeBfbFj55A

Re: I suck at power ballads.

Thank you. It's morphed since I posted a video here eons ago. We don't deliver it verbatim, it has our own minor tweaks & twists, but the signature elements are retained.

You're right though,...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

It has a certain magnificence to it ;)

I guarantee most bands would struggle to recreate that version more than the original!

Re: I suck at power ballads.

We keep Comfortably Numb in the set for approximately half our gigs. It's definitely there in a rock orientated festival set, but I'm also surprised how well it goes down in the most unlikely of...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

Ah - a nostalgia blast. Wind chimes, old friends, & flagrant windups = sorely missed :)

Re: Andy easily amused :)

I'm looking forward to it. With the exception of larger stage gigs, I've been living in monitoring mud for years!

It was time to save my ears too. Been planning this switch for a while, but...

Re: Andy easily amused :)

Indeed, but it's a practical solution for us. I tried a few tablet apps - didn't like them, but this one is superb. It's bye bye multicore - desk side stage - tablet out front (eventually). We...

Re: Andy easily amused :)

That has the potential for show improvement ;)

Of course, you're only setting up a local WIFI network, no internet link, & it's easy to protect with a password, so the hacker would have to be in...

Andy easily amused :)

Slowly getting the hang of this new tech stuff.

Ok, to be serious for a moment, I've tried numerous digital systems in recent years, & haven't got on with any of...

Re: best walnut snare?

It's possible - just possible - I might have a shell I'd forgotten to factor into the final builds. Not sure what size, but I'll let you know if it becomes a reality. Equally possible, I might be a...

Re: FU stroke!!!!!

Thanks for your reply. I was only in hospital for 6 days, & recovered significantly in the first 3 days to the point whereby I could walk again, so I progressed very rapidly too. I still have a...

Re: Happy New Year from a Mod

A huge debt of gratitude is owed to all who put the time in to make this place special, & special it really is.

I wish Johnny, Jon, & Bernhard a healthy + contented 2019.

To all here who've...

Re: Middle tom doesn't resonate

Although a mounting type / orientation may well (& often does) present a grounding issue, the affect of close proximity of a surface to a resonant head is a separate issue, & can occur irrespective...

Re: Struggles of Short Drummer and 5-Piece with Offset Toms

You'll get more tonal response from your bass drum if you don't hit the center of the head. Anything up to a couple of inches above center is fine (or below center if you want to use a bigger bass...

Re: Middle tom doesn't resonate

To test if the tom arm height / positioning, or the proximity of the tom resonant head to the bass drum is the issue - take the tom off the mount - holding it by the top hoop, replicate the reduced...
