Re: Completely out of touch old fart irrelevant opinion - but,

As for not liking a genre of music, I hate rap. I have heard lots...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I am not arguing trad grip is bad, I am just pointing out it means doing two different actions to...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

As I say, that can be the only reason, cos technique wise it has to be adding another layer of difficulty to playing. What I meant was, If you started playing with a marching band then fair enough,...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Trad grip? Its for playing a marching drum. That's the ONLY reason the left hand is used that way, to reach over the drum. When playing a regular kit, with a standard snare, there is no reason...

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

/\ Quite.

It is well documented that on the "Double White" the Beatles were rarely, If ever, all in the studio at the same time, and a lot of the tracks were in fact "Solo" efforts. Paul was...

Re: played (maybe joined) in blues band

[/B]

Argh......my personal nightmare. If a band cant at least start and finish a song at the same time it is beyond irritating. A song is not nailed till the ending is agreed. Or is that just a...

Re: played (maybe joined) in blues band

Sounds fair and reasonable. . Apologies for asking but without the full story it sounded a bit odd to me. If you are still dissatisfied with your current band could this one be a goer?

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

As for the "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles"......well ,the famous Beatles banter and John's sledge hammer wit.

Was George the best lead guitarist/vocalist around? No
Was John...

Re: played (maybe joined) in blues band

It would be interesting to know why you placed an add for musicians, had an audition with a band, and then say you don't have time for two bands? Not trying to be difficult, just a genuine question....

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

What a lot of people on here seem to forget is the fact that Ringo's drumming, in the Beatles, and that is what is being discussed here, was........ 50 years ago. Drumming, tuition, equipment,...

Of course. No one exists in a vacuum. Everyone has influences. They took there influences and moved them in new and varied directions. that's what innovators do. What can be said about...

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

You are Bernard Purdie and I claim my 5

I can play "I feel fine" as the recording, no problem, and I am a rubbish drummer. Are you suggesting Ringo could never play as the record? Get real. ...

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

Nail on the head i think. He was and is a great drummer. He has his own style, unlike most schooled and manufactured drummers now.

How can you tell what he is playing for certain on live...

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

If you take the black and white picture of Ringo in this thread, and I believe its the same gig, there is youtube footage of this. Ringo is by far the best musician on the stage. The pic is of him...

Re: Adware?

I run lots of protection but sometimes stuff creeps through. With the proliferation of adds it is sometimes difficult to know what is a genuine site add and what is malicious.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I laugh at some big name drummers stating there talent was "God given" and that is why they are so good. Then they admit they practiced 8 to 10 hours a day from the age of 5.

I managed to hack it...

Re: Any drum builders or customisers?

A fine tooth blade will do, It will leave less rough edges and has less chance of tearing the plies. Take it easy with a fine tooth and you will leave yourself less work to do regarding the clean up...
