Re: Tuplets inside tuplets

This is off topic, but I would really like to learn this kind of stuff. Can anyone recommend a site where I can learn about basic polyrythms and such?

Re: Let's start a thread...

I'm not saying that I'm a math drummer and I have no feel. I was just wondering if anyone else does these types of fills, so I could maybe get some ideas and build off of them. Actually, I enjoy...

Re: Let's start a thread...

Thanks wavelength. Nope. I don't restrict myself to anything. I've just become interested in taking different combos and making them fit where you would least expect it. Kind of like "Wow, this guy's...

Re: Let's start a thread...

Yep. First number is on the snare, second is on bass. Double or single kick.

Let's start a thread...

Where everyone shares their bass/tom/snare combos. I'm looking to expand my vocabulary. The main ones that I incorporate into my playing are 4/2's, 4/3's, 2/2's, 3/2's. Any other suggestions on...

Re: Am I slow?

I feel slow also.
Don't worry about it. Play consistantly. You build up those chops soon enough.

Re: George Kollias

Kollias is the replacement for Nile's old drummer, I believe. And he simply does it better than the previous. I love the band as a whole. Super heavy, and amazing technicality. Kollias slays.

Re: Jason Bittner

He's pretty damn good. I like his style. He looks promising. I don't like Shadows Fall all that much, but I like his work in the band.

Re: Fastest Double Bass Player?

George Kollias, Tim Waterson, Joey Jordison, And the Rev. For single foot, I think JoJo Mayer is the fastest I've seen.

Re: Drumming and your neighbors

The only people that hear me are people walking down the street. Our house is weird though. The inside walls aren't very thick, so my parents can always hear me playing, but the outside walls are...

Re: Bare Feet, Socks or Shoes?

I play in Hightop Chucks. Very light with good grip, and they don't restrain your ankle movement, even though it sounds like they would.

Re: To all experienced drummers out there

I've been playing for about 3 years now, and I can hold a groove for a lot of stuff. I can play to a lot of different types of music, but I'm just now gaining speed and endurance. Also, in the 3...

Re: Jason Bittner

That's what this thread is about fam. I think Bittner is an amazing drummer. He's not the fastest, but the way he puts everything together is awsome. I don't know, I just think his drumming flows...

Re: Chris Adler

He is very good. He's not all based all around speed either, which is rare for a metal drummer these days.

Re: What profesional drummer's setup do u admire most?

Travis Barkers set the most, because he makes it sound like he's got so much more. Mike Portnoys just because it's so damn beautiful. Some others I don't feel like listing.

Re: Travis Barker Sound

Pinstripes are what your looking for dude. They give a pretty fat tone. Hydrolics will definitley work for the punk rock thing, but be warned. THEY HAVE NO OVERTONES OR RESPONSE. For punk rock...

Re: Mike Portnoy

He sings in a lot of songs. More in their newer stuff than in their older stuff. For example, As I Am, The Test That Stumped Them All, and In the Name of God, to name a few.

Re: Help My Traditional Grip

Do you at least know how to hold the stick traditional? If you know that, then it's all in the wrist. I don't play traditional, but my friend is teaching me.

Re: Mike Portnoy

Someone with similar technique as Mike is probably Neal Peart or the Rev from Avenged Sevenfold. Both bands play prog.

Re: The Reverand

One of my favorite bands. I think the drummer is the main attraction, but the guitarist does display some amazing talent. The singer isn't that bad, but sounds better when he screams. He can't scream...
