Re: Only One Drum Set?

I used to, but then G.A.S. and a steady schedule of gigging with my cover band led me to multiple kits. I do however tend to use one of the kits 80% of the time while the others stay at home (or for...

While I haven't bought any used drums, I have bought a few used cymbals from GC's Used Gear section.. all over the country.. sometimes stuff has arrived in semi-questionable shipping boxes but the...

Re: What are your favorite earplugs?

I have the same exact ones. I also have custom-molded Westone AC20 IEMs.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Steve Weiss Music had a sale on all Evans heads so I stocked up on snare batters and heads for my toms... and a TuneBot Studio.

I also was experimenting last fall with different cymbal companies...

Re: A Lesser Kit For Gigging?

If I ever found myself in a situation like that, I'd probably do the same thing!

I currently rotate 2-3 drum kits of varying size and manufacturer around for my gigs, depending on venue but I have...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

DCP is sold out but I found one through eBay! Thanks for posting this, I desperately needed something like this for my gigs!

Re: Green Monday?

I wasn't conscientiously aware it was Green Monday however I tend to do the tail-end of my Xmas shopping (either for others or myself!) on this day. I take a day off work every year around this time...

Re: No GAS

Funny you should mention A Customs, Sabian, and selling habits. I am currently in the same exact boat! I always sell gear I know I won't use anymore, and that funds the new stuff!

I too have...

Re: Is this statement about 'hired guns' kinda true or not..?

While I agree with you, I think with the previous points made, especially from Bermuda, the range might still be too WIDE or subjective to objectify it.

The way I equate it, is if you were to go...

Re: Gigging Mishaps

Only mishap I've ever had was showing up to the gig without my kick beater. I wound up using the butt end of a screwdriver as a beater head - it actually sounded good!

Re: Is this statement about 'hired guns' kinda true or not..?

You replicated my sentiments exactly. And I'm almost hitting 40 years old, which is by no means OLD but in the grand scheme of things, means that I am at a point in my life where decisions like that...

Re: 42-strand snare wires

I use TAMA Snappy or the Gibraltar 42-stranders on all my 14x6.5" metal drums (brass, black nickel, Supra, etc.) Just seems like a nice pairing to my ears. I have yet to try on my wooden snares -...

Re: Can't take PDP seriously somehow

HA! I agree with both those sentiments.

I own a few kits, one of them the PDP New Yorker bop kit. The 18" kick it comes with is right up there sonically with my higher end kits. While the...

Re: Just Back From a Ludwig Factory Tour... Any Questions?

Cool pics! I love seeing the insides of factories and how things are made.

Makes me appreciate the hard work that went into making my Classic Maples!

Can any old chap off the street...

Re: Dave DiCenso Live Performance at DCP - Video

He has an incredible feel and movement around the kit - I aspire to get my doubles around the kit like he does!

Also the epitome of drummer faces lol... very into his playing indeed.

I guess he...

I use a PDP New Yorker Bop Kit in 18/12/10/13 configuration and somebody on eBay had up for sale the Pearl Midtown carrying cases so I snagged those for $50 but sadly the kick bag is for 16" drums so...

Re: The sound behind vs. the sound out front - big differences for you?

I forget the topic but there's a Billy Ashbaugh tuning video and he relays a personal anecdote/pro tip that if you wear those foam earplugs and put your ear near the batter head and...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I thought I would never see myself owning Zildjian cymbals (I have played Sabian for a very long time) but now my tastes are starting to change! Thus I am switching a few components out of my live...

Re: Putting band name on kick drum head, with multiple bands?

I recommend as well. Great product and service, I have 3 drum heads from them. They also do the "cling" type which might be appropriate for the OP's need.

Re: Ultimate paradiddle excercise by Pat Petrillo

Fantastic. I have his book Hands, Grooves, and Fills where I think that comes from. Aside from that, that book has loads of great exercises for the pad and the drum set. I find his "P" "DP" etc...

Re: Dw collectors purple heart

That's awesome. I don't know why I'm such a moron but I've spend hundreds of $$$ on snares and equipment from everyone but DW, yet I find their sound to be what I'm after. I think I just get...

Re: How many trigger your drums live?

Same here! Never triggered/layered but I do play either a full Roland V-drums kit or with my acoustic, use a SPD-30 Octapad for the sfx claps etc.
