Re: Jimmy Chamberlin

I also loath the double kick. But I think it's safe to add Jimmy Chamberlin to any list of "Drum Gods".

Re: 'Drummers are natural intellectuals.'It's Official.

Yeah, that's actually really funny. The first "drummer" joke that I actually like.

Re: Our first LP is done - and I'm disappointed

For those who would like to hear it:

What's the best method of posting the songs?

Our MySpace page has three of the 10 up, but they are pre-mastering and obviously compressed to all hell....

Our first LP is done - and I'm disappointed

So my band (a rock/pop outfit) recently got the masters of our first full-length back, and are just waiting for artwork to send it off for production.

Overall, Iím very proud, and I know itís...

Re: More experience as a drummer, less muffling of the kit..what does that tell us?

In your typical bar-setting where the sound guy will usually close mic the entire kit (which is the type of gig my band plays), is it probably best to muffle the snare/toms a bit? Thinking back, I...

Re: Are there any drummers that don't use hi hats?

The hi-hat is my favorite part of a drumset! I wouldn't so much be lost without it as I would be BORED without it. They're so much fun!

Re: How Flat are your Hats?

I've always kept mine totally flat. I've never experienced nor heard of "airlock" before.

But this has me wondering: other than preventing "airlock" what are the advantages of having a slight (or...

Re: Ringo Starr on A&E's Private Sessions

Re: Ringo Starr

"North Korea is the Ringo Starr of the Axis of Evil"

What?? Worst analogy ever.

As for the Ringo, I proudly state him as my first and main drumming influence.

Re: Recital Pieces

I seriously thought the title was "Rectal Pieces"

Anyway, so this reply was not a total waste, I believe (but don't have the book handy) that Carmine Appice's Ultimate Realistic Rock has some 16...

Can anyone tell me if this book is geared toward double-bass? Because I am not a double bass player, but really want a book that will help my single-bass technique.

Re: Best current indie-rock drummers

That's fine. By current, I meant "modern" bands.

And thanks for the list :)

Best current indie-rock drummers

I'm wondering which drummers you think are at the top of their game in the genre of melodic indie-rock/pop. That is the type of music my band plays, and while I do fine, and like the genre, I don't...

Re: Abe Laboriel jr.

I watched the Paul McCartney US Tour DVD with Abe drumming on some classic Beatles songs. He plays essentially the same parts as Ringo, but he still sounds so fresh and exciting. Plus he does sing...

Re: The Black Panther thread! For all BP snare fans and owners....

As of today, I finally upgraded to my first "pro" snare drum, with the purchase of a 13x6 Birdseye Blonde Maple snare. It sounds incredible with just the stock heads on it, but I did buy an Aquarian...

Re: Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz here!

Bermuda, I was wondering if Weird Al has ever tried writing a Beatles parody, and which song(s) would be considered.

Re: More PDP Stories...

Hmm. My 2005 CX model has flawless bearing edges on every drum, both sides. I've never understood it when people complained about pdp's bearing edge quality.

Mine are fine :)

Re: Ringo Stars "THE END" Drum solo

That is a huge bit a controversey right there, but I believe (as do most people I think) that Ringo recorded that solo.

Re: Major Mapex 2007 product news

This is one of the many reasons why next year when I buy a new set, I'm going with Mapex.

Now I just need to decide between the Saturn or the Orion.

Just saw AoA at the Metro in Chicago last night. Luzier is a freak man! He really blew me away, and the rest of the crowd it seems. There were parts where he basically dominated the show. Great...

Re: Can anyone tab this out?

Say what you will, Travis Barker is a pretty damn good drummer.

It's just too bad he played for such an incredibly horrid band.

Re: The Black Panther thread! For all BP snare fans and owners....

Well, I think I've decided what my new snare is going to be. 14x6.5 Maple... possibly Deep Forest Walnut.

Could anyone tell me the fundamental difference between Maple and Walnut would be?

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

Iíve never broken a stick, head or cymbal (and I play moderately heavy), so I canít say I hate when those things happen, but I can imagine how much it would suck.

I hate when Iím doing some fills...
