Re: 12 Myths About Drumming

Re: Splashes

I've got a few different brands of splashes in various sizes 6" to 12", other than a tonal difference between each they all sound pretty much the same. Crappy.
When cymbals get that small I don't...

Re: middle age drummers!!

Yes, as well as a dislocated index finger on my right hand and nerve and tissue damage from a shop accident to my left thumb. Between the carpal, injuries and arthritis setting in, sticks are flying...

Re: Cymbal ringing

Cobus Potgieter? You bought one of his cymbals? It sounded better when he had it?

It's you, not the cymbal.

Seriously, it's your perception of the cymbal as a player. A listener has a...

Re: Pillow?

Whatever happened to the internal muffler back in the day (worked better than a pillow) and also the 4" wide felt strip used by drummers since time began, too old school?
Not hi-tech enough? You...

Re: Reliable Anti-Galvani

Sounds a lot like a Bands name. I don't find much other that a scientist named Galvani experimenting on animals with electricity.

Re: How does gravity affect drum tone

You guys have too much free time on your hands. The yard needs to be raked of the leaves you didn't get to last fall, the ceiling in the bedroom needs painting, the litter box needs cleaning and you...

Re: jazz left hand

Anything it wants to. ;)

You could follow accents, but how many accents are there in a phrase or song? Create you're own accents or just keep time. In any case it's all in the feel of the piece....

Re: Why do so many people dislike Mapex?

I wouldn't pay any attention to any comments made by anyone posting a YouTube video if you see their kits are set up next to their twin beds.

Re: Right time to use a Cajon?

Buy a Cocktail kit and tell em to pound sand.
Seems like everyone wants to do their own thing, no one is on the same page as to where to go.
A mic'd Cajon is silly on acoustic gigs, it defeats the...

Re: Buying used cymbals

Hit your local GC or fav shop and bang on a few cymbals. Try them all, group them and whack them. Pick the ones you like. Go home happy.
I've had issues with buying off CL, buying and not hearing...

Re: How does hearing your drums in the front of house while you're playing affect your playing?

If I can hear myself above the rest of the band THAT much, I'm too loud.
I'd rather not hear myself to where it kicks me in the gut. I would want to hear what everyone else is doing so I know where...

Re: Simple trick to NEVER DROP A STICK AGAIN!

Good points Bermuda.
What if you need to stab the Guitarist after he's wacked your cymbal with the headstock of his guitar 14 times? Huh, huh, what then?

Re: Playing like Moon the loon?

I don't think anyone can really, His playing was a mirror of his life, wild, reckless and free. I've read a few of his biographies, they can describe what his playing was like, but no one can explain...
