Re: Shell Pack with 20" Bass Drum

Here is a Pearl BRX (birch shells), 20x16, 15x13, 12x8, brand new for $899. I know that's more than your budget, but it's a good deal and those are great sizes for all styles.

Re: so i found this set on ebay...

Whoever won this got themselves a great deal. If it was me I'd search e-bay for a matching 16" floor.

Re: "Retro Pearl" 3 piece? Worth it?

Or even "strangely".

Strangely enough, there seems to be no end to these examples.

Re: Unix Bubinga kit (yes! another one)

That's such amazing craftsmanship. I would love just a third of that kit.

What heads are those?

Re: "Retro Pearl" 3 piece? Worth it?

Funnily enough, it is a perfectly good word. It either describes an unlikely situation - one that would not normally occur (as in this case) - or it is used as an adverb to describe something that...

Re: "Retro Pearl" 3 piece? Worth it?

That's a great player's kit and would make an excellent gig set. I played on one of those old Pearl Birch kits once and it was solid, to say the least. Pity about the missing floor tom lugs, but if...

Re: Old yammies / New digs

Hey Abe, nice drums and a very nice space. Your new camera appears to flip the image left to right though - I'd have it checked out. :) You seem to have EC2's on your rack toms and (I'm guessing)...

Re: Molecules Drums

Interesting, that's for sure. But, poor recording or not, they sound dull. You could put goldfish in them though. Probably wouldn't affect the sound too much either.

Re: Heads for Yamaha Recording Customs

Are you going to post some pics of the RC's? Or must we wait till the end of the month too?

Re: What is your dream kit including cymbals?

These wish list posts are so futile, but nevertheless I also have a dream kit.

Re: lets see some kist with wood hoops!

I know the thread title said kits and these pics are snares, but they're too pretty not to post. Apart from Stellar hoops, which are amazing, these from Stanbridge Drums (first three pics) and Lignum...

Re: Ludwig drum set off of craigs list

The only gear that's worth anything from that list are the 17" crash and the kick pedal. If you look around (and ask questions here) for 10 minutes you'll find loads of better deals. Much better. And...

Re: first kit.... bass drum too big?

Why don't you consider e-bay? Starclassic Performers (birch) pop up there all the time - new and used. And you can get a new 4-piece for anything between $1000 and $1500 and a good condition used kit...

Re: What a Stave builder craves.....

Those are going to look amazing.

Can you explain why the segments are already rounded? With staves they're flat until they're glued up and lathed. Do these start off as flat pieces with straight...

Re: Pearl Export Fusion

I think it's a good deal. It's become fashionable to knock Exports here, but they're remarkably solid drums. People make a big deal about their poplar shells but fail to mention that for many years...

Re: Trading in my Yamaha Recording Custom for a Pearl MMX?

Wow, tough choice. Those Pearls look spectacular, but I think I'd keep the RC's. Then again, you might just feel like a change. Either way, you'll have a great set.

You list 5 toms on the RC's,...

Re: Are they the drums you really want?

I'd go for a stave kit from Lignum drums in Scandinavian birch with their wood hoops in natural (unstained) finish.

My ideal sizes would be 22x16, 10x8, 13x9, 16x14 with a 14x6 main snare and a...

Re: What will be the most sought after drums 40 years from now?

I have a feeling rare one-offs and signature drums might not have the "big presence" to maintain momentum over 4 decades.

If you look at the Gretsch and Slingerland and Ludwig drums that are...
