Re: Drum Etiquette at Open Jams

Blues jams are notoriously known for long-winded harp solos, Stratocaster mast****tion mastery, and solid drumming. We're there to keep the noise going in time.

Re: Drum Etiquette at Open Jams

That's a good attitude. In regards to the gear I would have a tough time adjusting to a different set in my early days and want to bring a lot of gear. Now I don't even bring anything besides sticks...

Re: Yahoo.com 10 legendary rock drummers..

THE WORST. And it's from Yahoo to boot. At least Mitch Mitchell is getting some love.

Re: Simon Phillips talks 'bout open handed, dynamics, big sound and recording :)

I think that's the first time I've heard him interview.

I noticed his cymbals don't have top felts or tightened down, he really believes in resonance in the studio.

Thanks for the share!

Re: Jeez, Phil...

Excellent points. Black Ice had a great debut and the tour grossed a whopping 441.6 million dollars. They can't afford a this type of crap within the touring group.

Re: Jeez, Phil...

From a short interview perspective it does seem like they're somewhat distancing themselves from him but we'll see what happens in the upcoming months.

This kind of behavior within a major band...

Re: Carl Palmer show last nite...

I'm jealous. I've seen him a couple times in the past few years and he does have serious stamina.

What ELP songs did they play? I'll have to youtube later and see what I can dig up.

Re: Tama Starclassic Experts

I've called that Vistalite seller out on eBay, Facebook and elsewhere. Some of their BO badges are FAKE FAKE FAKE. There's also people who buy the blank ones off the eBay seller out of Kentucky and...

Re: A Singing Drummer's Mic Set-up

I put my headset up on CL for that reason. I was having to mute it between songs, the battery life was meh, and forbid I had to cough (it happens) it's all out there.

I currently use a boom...

Re: Tama Starclassic Experts

Comparing that logo picture to others online it looks darn good for a suspected fake.

I had a eBay guy acting super nervous when I picked up a kit and that made me very weary of the authenticity....

Re: The being fired or quitting thread

Remarks like that would not go over well with anyone I play with and in this day and age it's unacceptable anywhere. How sad he couldn't even control himself.

We had a politics blowout right...

Re: How LOUD were the classic rock bands??

Spinal Tap was one of England's loudest bands. I got to fill in for their drummer during the Shark Sandwich tour, after he died in a bizarre gardening accident.

Re: John Bonham Snare on the bay

Not enough documentation IMO, especially for that kind of money. I would throw money at something documented and without a doubt, real. Take the Bennett's drum studio collection for example.

Re: What would you appraise my kit for?

Definitely part it out. That will save trouble of shipping all those pieces at once and you'll get more money. It will take some time though.

If you're comfortable with it, list all items on both...

Re: sixteenths on hats?

I assumed OP was talking about faster 16th notes, but good call - TS is a good example of mainly non-accented 16ths on the hats.

Re: sixteenths on hats?

Not sure how you can keep up one handed, smooth 16ths at a decent tempo. I use RLRL. Fast 8th notes with no accents a la Ramones I use one hand.
