Re: Silly branding things that shouldn't matter (but do!)

Don't spend your time worrying about stuff like this. Use the stick that feels and sounds best to you. If the logo really bothers you that much:
a) get a life.
and
b) get some sandpaper and 40...

Re: Foot Pedal :: Too Painful

Try playing heel up and don't move your ankle so much? My hole leg is involved in my kick stroke usually, and the ankle has never been a stress-point.

Re: When disaster strikes: Your opinion

I'd be stupid not to haul out the huge bricks of coke and meth. The drums aint no thang but a chicken wang.

Re: Crap rehearsal = great gig?

I tend to have the opposite. A fantastic rehearsal leading up to the gig, everyone in high spirits... And then we play a gig full of stupid little mistakes.

Re: Anatomy of Drumming

Now I'm wanting to go find videos of you so I can see what all the research led to in your journey!

I'd also prefer to buy from the google book store and read it on my tabs/phone. And I'm a cheap...

Re: Snare sound with Hot Rods?

Put electrical tape on the top and middle part of the rods where the wood is exposed. Cover the wood except leave some showing on either side of the tape 1/2 inch to an inch on either side of the...

Re: Bid like a man!

They probably wrote a script or used a program that did it for them seconds before close.

Re: Your approach to supporting a solo.

The thing I always try to be careful about is my dynamics during a solo. When a guitar starts soloing, my volume level comes down more than half usually. I don't want people to notice me, but want...

Re: 1 measure lick ideas for solos

Here's an idea. Maybe grab a few of the more simple books, like stick control or funky primer, or synco... Take some of those rhythms and apply them in different ways over a measure on the kit. ...

Re: 1 measure lick ideas for solos

I just mean that if we're posting random fills, the majority won't "fit" the music you're trying to put it into. I'm suggesting that the rhythms in the song should dictate what fills are played,...

Re: 1 measure lick ideas for solos

This sounds very math oriented, and I don't usually operate that way. I base my "licks" off of the music being played around me. I think just getting a list of 1 measure 4 time licks is going to...

Re: New product idea again

Not even a tiny chance in hell. But you can keep dreaming, if you like. While you're at it, you can pretend that the surfing in PA is just as good as Cali, too. It's just as realistic!

Re: Steve Gadd is a !@#$% ^&*()

How is steve gadd involved? Is this a "familiar" tune I don't know?

Interesting sticking... I would have defaulted to playing it differently if you just handed it to me.

Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

They can definitely be punchier, which I like for my high tom. I recently discovered that I can get the sound of a larger tom by tuning a bit different. my little 12x7 likes it when I tune the reso...

Re: When you're having a bad night...

Every so often, I'll have to play an entire show for 3 people or what have you. That's when I have the hardest time really putting in my all... When there's nobody there to listen. I try not to let...

Re: Bass drum triplets - rusty / struggling :(

Baring in mind that I'm not a teacher, I think you might be doing it backwards for the feel you seem to want. It sounds to my ear like you're tending to do a double and then try and add one more...

Re: 3D Printer Drumset? Cool! But, How Does It Sound?

It's an electronic pad, and it makes the noise the module tells it to make regardless how physically big it is. Those huge 14 inch practice pads always mystified me, too. Why add that much heft and...

Re: Was Lars' double-bass on the track Dyers Eve a fraud?

I had seen them live, saw them rip it up, and never questioned the albums until a guitar player came through and broke my illusion. I then went back and listened to the earlier albums and it stuck...

Re: Muscle Seizing/Fatigue at Gigs

We don't get a "small dose" period. It's extremely difficult to keep your salt levels normal in this day and age unless you can avoid all restaurant and packaged food, and always season yourself...

Re: All the things that go into drumming

We need a huge library of music and ideas in our heads to pull from so that we can make things interesting. The more we pay attention to music, the more depth we have to pull from when we're...

Re: Bass drum technique

If you're doing quick notes you don't bury. It's usually just the last note you'd hold so that it doesn't sustain out. It's like palm muting for guitar. You only need to do it some of the time,...

Re: advertisement attachments

It sounds like you may have a virus/malware problem. Is your virus protection program running? Some programs which may help are "spy bot search and destroy" and as already mentioned "malwarebytes"....
