I got a used yamaha brass snare for 140 dollars, a pretty sweet deal. They sell a smaller one at my local drum dealer for like 400. So yeah and most of all it sounds awesome.

I have the same drum but much bigger 14x7, with the die cast hoops on the top and it sounds great, brass for the win.

Hey, i am looking for the sound that questlove has on his snare, i have a 7x14 yamaha brass with a ambassador on the top and diplomat on the bottom. thanks for any help.

I cant say anything for the mapex kits, im sure there nice. But i do own the Catalina's and they are some sweet sounding drums, i put some remo emps on them and all last band practice i got...

I bought my 6 piece maple gretsch for around 600 new, with no cymbals its a great kit good drums, you should jump on that for 300 with everything, go for it.

I have a Catalina maple and i think it is great, lots of drums therefore so many different setups available to me. But if i could have gotten a Yamaha maple Custom for the same price i would go for...

Im pretty sure Nathan uses a brady snare and those are prices as hell, but i would look into a pearl sensitone, or a pork pie brass, good luck.
