Re: Chinese Maple vs. Canadian Maple vs. North American Maple?

Exactly what I was thinking. I a billion percent agreed with whoever it was that said something along the lines of "if you played them and like the way they sound, that's all that matters."

It...

Re: Pork Pie Snares?

I had a Little Squealer kit for about 5 years and I loved it. The snare was probably my favorite part of the kit. 14x7 maple. I had the satin black kit with the silver powder coated hardware. I'd...

Re: For those who play at church or not.

I consider myself fortunate to be able to play at a church where the ones that make the decisions in regards to the music and sound in general (senior pastor, associate pastor, worship pastor) are...

Re: Starting Back At The Basics Is Very Humbling

I didn't think I was alone in this, but it is cool to hear from some of you guys that I consider to be the more "famous" posters here, lol.

I'm like you beyondbetrayal. I started drumming by...

Re: Rock albums with modern production and a great vintage drum sound

Not sure if this would fall into your category or not, but check out the album "Veheissu" by Thrice. IMO, it has a much less processed drum sound than a lot of modern music.

Starting Back At The Basics Is Very Humbling

I've been playing for 17 years, but never took any lessons and never really cared about technique or very much music theory until about 5 years ago or so. I was also the type of guy that didn't know...

Re: Worth A Trade?

Meh, he sold them today......

I have some one lined up to buy mine tomorrow, so that's at least a small consolation.

I've seen the new Renown Birch kits, they're super nice, but way out of my...

Re: Worth A Trade?

Chollyred, that's what I think I'm gonna do. However, the guy told me today that he might have a potential buyer, but he is gonna let me know. He said he still wants my kit, so even if he sells his...

Re: Worth A Trade?

Yeah, been on youtube for the last little bit listening to some kits. A lot of them do have that boomy sound I'm not in love with, but I found 2 videos where they were tuned/head combo made them...

Re: Worth A Trade?

lol, vintage has never really been my thing, but then again, I've never really played any either. I'm not opposed to keeping them, like you guys said, maybe by the time I put some heads on them, I...

Worth A Trade?

http://greenville.craigslist.org/msg/4842375061.html

So, a guy on craigslist offered these 72 Rogers drums in a trade for my Stage Customs. Is this worth the trade? He has his listed for $800,...

Re: Any Idea On This Kit??

Thanks, for the help so far. He sent me a pic, and a link to an ID thread on a Tama forum. The badge says Made In Japan on the left side, and according to the link, it looks like they might be a 2000...

Any Idea On This Kit??

http://greenville.craigslist.org/msg/4874184842.html

I know there's a difference between regular Starclassics and Starclassic Performers. I asked the guy for some more pics, especially some that...

Re: So...where do you keep your spare sticks?

I keep 1 pair on the top of the kick, and the rest in a stick bag tied to the floor tom.

Well, I stand 100% corrected then, lol. That's what I get for opening my mouth without much knowledge.

Re: Gretsch catalina maple

That badge looks to me like it might be a little older than the recent ones before they switched to the round badge. I have no idea the exact year, though.

Re: pdp Concept Wood Hoop kit NAMM 2015

I saw one of the snares at my local evil empire earlier in the week. It looked really awesome.

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

I know those feels, OP. Venues tried to do us like that a lot when we first started playing shows. After about a year of playing, and getting a nice local following, we started seeing some pay outs....

Re: What's the best things about your playing?

I'd say that I play the song on the drums, I don't play the drums during the song.

Re: THE DRUM MODIFICATION THREAD.

Anyone have any experience applying a wood veneer to drums? I bought a Percussion Plus kit at a yardsale a while back for $40, and I was gonna stain them, but I don't feel like putting in that much...

Re: The 20" shallower bass drum, not as easy to find as I thought

I know for a fact the new Gretsch Catalina Maples have a 20x16 kick, I was looking hard at those before I finally bought my Stage Customs. I've always liked the punch of a 20" kick.

Re: Yamaha Drums

Yep, sure are. And thanks, I'd been eying them for weeks when I was looking for a new kit, but was apprehensive since I'd always equated Yamaha drums with black gospel music. Did some research,...

Re: If you had to choose between these entry levels

For sure on that. I bought a sound percussion kit at a yard sale for $40 a few months ago. Had it rewrapped, cleaned the hardware, and swapped heads, and it's a perfectly capable kit for...

Re: My new drums.

Good looking kit. I'd heard a while back that Ayotte made Taye drums, but idk if that was true or not. Could be a DW/Pacific type thing.

Re: 20x14 Bass drum for hardcore playing - my point!

Scared to try new things maybe. They see/hear something they like, and they automatically think that's the exact thing they need. I'm still a little bit apprehensive myself about some smaller sizes....
