Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

One of the comments under the last video that Andy linked says "His thoughts are as random and sporadic as his drumming".

Says all that needs to be said I feel. He reminds me of one of those...

Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

He's back. A post on facebook this am, seemingly trying to justify his previous performance as having been told to "go for it". On that basis, he would be well advised to leave "it" alone and walk...

Re: Real Band Dilemma....

I'm really lucky. I'm in a band that has 4 members all with similar priorities. We all work and we all have families. Funnily enough a previous bass player was a cop and he had no difficulties in...

Re: Annoyed and disappointed with myself

I have a couple of things that may help.

Ear plugs- Because I use in-ear monitors with my band, if I'm simply playing drums I need to use plugs or my IEM's to get the balance right. I've been...

Re: Completely out of touch old fart irrelevant opinion - but,

I'd much rather see a bad band than a good DJ.

Just sayin'...

Of course a good band would be better, but if I have to choose....

Re: Musically, what are you involved with at the present?

1. How many bands are you in?
3 essentially, 1 main band, a pub rock band playing covers and a few originals. My main gig for the past 10 years
1 rehearsal band (at present) just started with these...

Re: Shoes with Elastic Bands: Yes or No?

I need to wear shoes- I hate the feeling of a pedal on my foot without one, but that's where any specifics stop. I don't like very grippy soles as I move my foot about on the pedal a lot- how anyone...

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

That'll be me too- I can't get it consistent enough to do more than that and I don't have enough time to practice to get any better at it, My hands are rubbish as well...

But then, drumming is...

Re: Insulting a member on the bandstand

I depped on a gig on Saturday night, a friend's soul band, playing a wedding. I knew the tunes but wasn't sure of their arrangements, so the bass player and singer counted off the tunes to give me an...

I have chronic rheumatoid arthritis so I usually feel like I've been run over by a truck the day after...

I still do it because I love it, and we don't play that often so I have time to recover in...

Re: The "I wish I hadn't opened my big mouth" thread ;)

Time to break out the windchimes and cowbell! You'll be fine, remember, anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but, oh man, I'm so glad it's not me!

Re: Here's an idea

I understand where you're coming from Bo, but if you had shut me in a room with a pad for any length of time, you would have turned me off. For me the pad and the teaching came later. I just wanted...

Re: Need a bit of help.

I looked on my iPhone 5 running ios 7.1.1. It looks great, so much better than the majority of web sites that I have looked at on my iPhone. It all works very well, no gripes and since I'm coming to...

No, never. Drumming is like sex, you don't need to be that good at it to enjoy it.... ;0)

Re: 1 up, 2 down question

+1

I have a full set of toms for my Mapex Saturn from 8" to 16" including a 14" floor. The only reason I can think of for going to 2 floors is looks. Ergonomically it doesn't work for me, it just...

Re: Help I bought a cracked cymbal off ebay

No, they offered to pay the postage out of the blue- all I did was open a dispute, but by that time the seller had offered to cover it, which he did. but then, he seemed to be an honourable man who...

Re: Why ya' gotta be so dark?

I have owned 3 pro level ride cymbals in my drumming life, all at the bright and pingy level- a 20" Earth Ride (no longer with me and I really wish that is was) a 20" K Custom and a 22" Z3 Medium...

Re: Just curious -----------

If I'm honest, I'm not convinced my snare technique is anywhere near up to it.

I am to rudiments what Giant Haystacks was to ballet!
