Re: Playing drums dynamically

Thank you a lot guys. Really, really great advice. Some of it was priceless. It's surely going to benefit me so much. I'm already starting to apply a lot of it, and to be honest, drumming is more...

Playing drums dynamically

Hi everyone.

I wanted to ask what dynamic drumming exactly means. Does it also include playing softer? I've been told that during a solo (guitar solo for example), you need to play the drums...

Re: What are some good free websites/sources for learning drums?

Thanks everyone for replying. Apparently when I posted this thread it must have given me some kind of luck, hehe. The same day I posted it, I met one of the drummers I had talked to, and he said...

What are some good free websites/sources for learning drums?

I've been playing for almost a year, and so far I'm almost completely self-taught. There are no drum tutors in my area, the closest being 30 minutes away by car, which is totally not a possibility...

How to play the ride cymbal fast?

I'm a beginner drummer, and I wanted to know how do you play the ride cymbal fast, like how Joey does near the end of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JopQMbr1lYU

That's all, basically....

Re: What should I do about the uneven gap between hats?

Oh. Ok. There's one more thing. Apparently the uneven gap is also causing the hats to be uneven against each other. What I mean is, that from one side the bottom hat is prominent. Like it's farther...

What should I do about the uneven gap between hats?

I recently bought a drumset, and I'm having a problem. The gap between the hats is uneven. From one side they are touching each other, and from the other side they are farther.

I tried tightening...

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

Lol. :) Actually they don't look bad at all. So I think maybe if I eventually didn't find the same finish, I might get a different finish.

Thank you a lot.

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

No actually it doesn't bother me to mix, and I think I will be able to afford it after a while.

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

Guys, can't I add toms of different brands, like Pearl for example? Because I found some in black finish on eBay, and they're cheap.

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

Well, if I don't find a tom in the finish I want, then I don't think I would mind having a pieced together Frankenstein kit, lol. :) But the question is if it will look good...

Re: Is the Mapex Voyager a good drum set for the price?

What heads would you recommend? And I don't know how to tune toms (or any other part of the drums) lol.. so if there is any advice you could give me that would be great.

Oh, and I already got good...

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

I've got an idea. I've checked the website, and the Meridian Maple has separate toms, and it also comes in black (like the Voyager). So I think it's also an option to get a Meridian Maple tom instead...

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

Oh, I get it. Then I might have to get a different kind of tom. But what about the finish? Do you have any suggestions where I can find/buy separate toms (even if not Voyager)?

Re: Does Mapex make individual toms?

I searched in Google for my country's Mapex distributor, and they had the website of the store I bought the drum set from. So should I just go to the store or contact them about this matter? Oh, and...

Does Mapex make individual toms?

So I bought the Mapex Voyager, but it comes with only three toms. I might in the future want to add an extra tom.

Is this a possibility? Can I contact Mapex for this matter? Do they make...

Is the Mapex Voyager a good drum set for the price?

So I finally got the money to get a drum set. I went to a music store and ordered one (I will have it on Tuesday. Yay!). However, my budget didn't allow for a high-end drum kit, so I had to order the...
