So the temperature in my office has dropped a good 10 degrees in the last couple of hours. Yesterday they couldn't get the heat to stop blasting.. Been going on like this for a couple years now... ...

Re: The "abstract" thread

Right now, and for the last few days (after my first ever complete head swap), I am all but completely obsessed with wether or not I got everything seated/tuned right, picked the right heads, and how...

Re: THE BIG "MONEY BEAT" DEBATE! Love it or hate it?

Well, I've only been playing drums for a short while now, so the "money beat" is one of the few that I am comfortable enough with to just sit down and jam and do fills with and not sound horrid.

Re: Cynicism and making a living as a musician

Well, as far as attitude and cynicism goes, there's a pretty old saying out there..

If you think you can, you're probably right. If you think you can't, you're definitely right.

It took...

Re: Drum Microphone Recommendations

I like this thread, cause I'm currently researching good mics for recording my kit. Right now i have two Audio-Technica ST95 mark II dynamic mics (pretty cheap, they're usually like 30 bucks, but I...

Re: How do you hide how much you've just spent on drum stuff?

Small purchases that I make with my allowance don't need to be hidden. Each paycheck my wife and I both get a small amount of $$$ to do with as we please. We can spend it in one shot, save it, use...

Re: Drum lesson issues with my 6yr.old...

What kind of music/bands/performers does he like? When I was a kid, I didn't care about music at all, until I heard something I really liked, and then I had to play it. He might not know the names,...

Re: What's your biggest drumming frustration as a beginner?

I'm about as beginner as they come I guess. I just got my kit on Halloween, so I've been playing for a whole whopping 12 days now. Some things I just hit the kit running with. I have no problems...

Re: anyone use ear protection whilst playing

Re: over practicing

I think the real danger from overpracticing are things like tendonitis (overuse injuries). Kinda like weight lifting, or pretty much any physical activity, if you do it too much, you risk injury due...

Re: Practice suggestions?

Depending on how rusty, I'd start with basic drumline/marching band stuff. Start with a basic pattern, one does half the other does another half, practice until you can play the whole thing and...

Re: Have you come to the conclusion that you're better at other things and you may su

Your story sounds like the mirror image of mine. I have been playing guitar for about 20 years now, and it wasn't until about a month ago that I actually sat on a kit for the first time ever and...
