Re: stick keeps sliding in traditional grip

I use Vic Firth coated drum sticks. They help keep the stick from slipping in my hands.
But I hate to recommend them to you. I don't know how old you are, how long you have been playing, or if...

Re: stick keeps sliding in traditional grip

No matter what grip we use, we are always repositioning the stick in our hands. Which includes slight movements in the position of the fulcrum point while we are playing.

The stick always wants...

Re: NDD: New Kit Day Tama Starclassic Performers B/B, No more buyers remorse

Great choice on the kit. I think the quality is as good as the live custom set.

The black is a little bit boring compared to that Yamaha Amber sunburst. But if you ever want go sell it black is...

Re: Old School Drumming

They told me that the green pig on Monday nights is the best. But I missed that one. I went to Liquid joes Wednesday and the woodshed on Thursday night. Woodshed is normally on Wednesday night but...

Re: Old School Drumming

In Phoenix when you play in a jam you will eventually play stuff like four bar blues, Led Zeppelin, Stones songs, southern rock songs etc.
Here in Salt Lake they played songs that were more like...

Re: Old School Drumming

Yes I understand. I wish I could hit consistent left hand rim shots. Sometimes I do need that sound. However I do hit very hard when needed.

Old School Drumming

I'm visiting Salt Lake City Utah right now. I went to two local open mic jams this week. There were three other young drummers at these two jams.
One was a Juilliard graduate, one was a self taught...

Re: Improving Groove

I can groove with a band just fine. I can also groove with recorded music.
But I have difficulty grooving all alone. Is it possible to groove alone on the drums ? Without a metronome.

Re: Pete Ray Biggin drum set

I may be wrong. You are probably looking for a Tama Starclassic. I did a Google search for "Tama Starclassic" and found this.
And come to think of it Pete Ray could have had Tama make him a...

Re: Pete Ray Biggin drum set

It's a Tama Star series. Either Bubinga or Maple. You might go to the Tama Drum internet site and find it. It also might be an older discontinued finish.

Good luck

These might help. I got them off of the internet.

Re: Serious drummer? (I think not ;)

I feel your pain. When I was in my garage band in the 60's I used to get bored. Especially playing fraternity parties.
So I used to try and throw off the other band members and the drunk dancers...

Re: Serious drummer? (I think not ;)

Well I agree with you to a point. And that point is; we should be supporting the music. And sometimes that requires that we simply keep the beat.
When the band and the music gets loud and fun...

Re: Snare vs. Room

I play in two kinds of places. There are no microphones for the drums in either place.

One place is in bars and small night clubs. I use my 1926 Ludwig COB Super. It has plenty of crack and...

I don't want to start another discussion about Ringo and his playing.
