Now you're going to move the goalposts? Are you going for some sort of logical-fallacy record in one thread?

I decline to engage with you further. You're a chess pigeon.

Exactly my point....

Re: EPs or Album?

Concur. Multiple EPs > One full album.

More records = more merch to sell, which means more earning opportunities for you.

You can price them lower than a full album, but still maintain margin....

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Just pulled the trigger on a bunch of stuff this morning:

14" Istanbul Agop Xist hats
14" x 6.5" WorldMax Black Hawg w/die-cast hoops
New skins for everything in the Island Kit...

Re: More creative drumming with a cape on?

As someone up-thread noted, Rick Wakeman did:

He's not a drummer, but he's played with...

Oh, no you don't. You don't get to weasel out of the hole you've dug yourself that easily.

You asked a specific question:

That question was answered. The answer makes you uncomfortable, but...

Re: Marching Bass Drum Help

It doesn't need to stay there forever, just until you nail the lick.

Here's another tip - work 32nd notes in unison first. Work 'em until they sound clean. Because if you're not clean playing in...

I can see where you're going with this, and it's not the trap you think it is. ;-)

If I have something of value to sell, I will not pay someone else to take it. That's the same whether it's the...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

Oh, I'm not denying that there's a great deal of money involved. Neither do I deny that the NFL is run like a business.

I'm happy to have a debate on the morality of capitalism if you really want...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

I find that comical. I've been a small business owner, consultant, and contractor for the better part of two decades. But do go on. ;-)

With you so far.

Ultimately, the NFL. That's...

Re: Marching Bass Drum Help

Do you mean 32nd notes split in groups or each note is on a different drum?

Either way, it's tricky.

Do you have a percussion section instructor? If so, that person is much better suited to...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

I apologize for possibly misrepresenting the UK pub scene. My memory tells me there were some reports recently on DW of not pay-to-play, but musicians being expected to perform gratis (for the...

Re: Q Drum Co.

Yes you did.

That's an unequivocal claim.

Absolutely not. You don't get to unequivocally state "they're the best," then, when called on that, deny you ever said it, then, when called on...

Seriously. Pay-to-play is insane.

(Except for Coldplay. I can't believe nobody is agreeing with me about Coldplay.)

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

I think this is worth highlighting.

I have a friend who works wood. He has a fully-equipped modern shop. He can turn out furniture with those tools. On the other hand, he has a few antique hand...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

I'm glad I'm not the only one who spotted this. I'm 100% certain it's unintentional. All the same, it's still disturbing.

I love your analogy about the bass, because it fits my life. Seriously!

Re: Insulting a member on the bandstand

And "ruins the vibe"?

Really?

All I have to say to "buzzkill," or "ruins the vibe," or whatever, is screw that! Sloppy playing ruins MY buzz, and if you want to talk about "ruins...

Yes. In exactly the same way as it behooves any other professional to stay current. It's not as critical as a doctor staying current, of course. No one is going to die because you don't know who...

Re: Professional responsibility

Hear flippin' hear.

I don't own/run the shop where they teach, and I don't know the UK's labor laws. But that kind of blithe indifference is a fire offense in my book.

Re: What's On Your Shopping List?

New heads all the way round, batter and resonant.

Hi hats. I need hi hats. The ones I have are, to my ear, total shite. Recommendations for all-rounders? I play a mix of stuff, from Trane to Tool.

Re: Open Mic Nights - How To?

Open mic and jam sessions are oodles of fun. I help run one every Thursday. Sometimes it's awesome. Other times it's painful. Depends on who shows up.

Ours is more of a jam session. If someone is...
