Re: 24" bass drum - 10" main snare, surely not?

I thought the mid tuning on the little snare sounds pretty rad.

Re: Peter Erskine moves to Tama...

This is what makes drumming great no matter what budget you have. Choice!
I don't think anybody considering a set of drums in the Star price range is going to buy them ONLY because Peter Erskine...

Re: My "new to me" DW Collectors

Sounds like you got a great deal on the kit. As far as heads go you know the two avenues that heads generally take. Clear = brighter and Coated = warmer. Since you are traditionally a classic drum...

Re: 6.5" deep acrolite

How do these sound compared to a Supra? They are hard to find but tend to be a little cheaper.

Re: I can only play original music?

I find this thread very interesting for a lot of reasons thus my desire to resurrect it and hopefully gain some additional information. I have a band with a couple of friends and we have found a lot...

Re: John Bonham: There Goes Another Rubber Tree Plant

Awesome story!

Did Jason ever say if the Stainless drums were used to actually record Presence? We have seen the photo (and now this story) that the Stainless kit was set up at Polar but the...

Re: Custom Roulette Kit

Those kits are beautiful.

I like the thin band in the middle of the drum and not at one end.

Re: Any problems wearing both earplugs and ear muffs?

I usually wear one or the other when playing drums but wear both when shooting guns. The decibel level from gunshots is much higher than rim shots or any other drum noise and I've never had an issue.

Re: Terry Bozzios kit for sale

Steve at Starcraft has been discussed many times on drum boards (mostly bashed) for this kit and the "wordz" he uses in his listings. I personally had a great experience with him. He was very...

Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

It's not sexist at all. Her attire and "looks" at the camera are there for a reason. She may be coached by someone or not. She IS a good drummer. I'm just not convinced she would be as popular as...

Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

If Meytal was a guy with equivalent talent would he be as popular as she is?

I honestly don't know anything about how well she plays but see her name a lot on message boards, youtube, etc.

Re: Carmine Appice Lobbies For Led Zeppelin Drum Spot

I think Abe would be a great option if LZ ever regrouped. He hits hard with finesse and that's the recipe that Bonzo created for the Zeppelin sound. He's definitely one of my favorite drummers.

Re: Carmine Appice Lobbies For Led Zeppelin Drum Spot

Being a big Zep fan I have thought about this scenario a few times.

1. Zep will not reunite. They did the 02 show and the band has admitted it was for Jason as much as it was anything else.

2....

Re: Why does the Vintage drums sound so good???

Bermuda touched on this in another thread today and many of the things mentioned above were included. Different manufacturing processes, aging of the wood, coatings inside the drums, even some drums...

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

I found this to be true with my Centennials as well. I tend to keep them tuned low but they seem to have one or two zones where they sound better.

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

How are the Element SE going to stack up against Centennial (which I already own)? Their price point is much easier to stomach than older drums.

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

What do you think is holding Ludwig back from being able to recreate the classic sound? I would think with all of the today's technology they could recreate the Classic sound pretty easily.

Re: Ludwig 400 sound test with music

They can sound good tuned several different ways. That's why they have been so popular for so long.

They just have the Ludwig logo on them and nothing else. They do feel a little thinner than the G1s. I messed with the drums a little bit this afternoon and got a better tone but not what I heard...
