Re: Trusting others with your kit?

That's how it is for me as well, and even then I'm pretty iffy.

Re: Tama Starclassics!

Oops, didn't notice you'd already posted the price.

By all means, offer $600, but don't be surprised if he says that's too low.

Re: Tama Starclassics!

Anything in the Starclassic range will serve you well, and all will be a big step up from your Rockstar for sure. The Performers are either birch or birch/bubinga, depending on the year. Both are...

Re: Neurotic

I used to change my setup a lot in my first few years of playing, but when I found what worked for me, I didn't look back. I think you'll find something that you'll like and want to stick with soon...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

99 problems, but a Luddie ain't one.

Those look real nice. I'd love to play them.

Re: No Drums For 2-3 Weeks :(

Luckily (unluckily?) it was my weak side that was injured. I most certainly plan on drumming still, but I just won't be able to sit down and just... groove. I've got band practice tonight, so we'll...

Re: Tama Starclassic Snare Help

Can't estimate age, but I agree with it looking like birch.

No Drums For 2-3 Weeks :(

So I'm working as a roofer for my summer job, and yesterday I happened to gash the back of my hand quite badly. I was driven to the hospital, where I waited 4 1/2 hours to get stitches and be told...

Re: Do you ever stand back from your drums...

Every day. Hell, when I'm taking a few minutes to brush my teeth in the morning, I'll sit back on the couch and stare at my kit while brushing!

Re: Why ya' gotta be so dark?

I like dark cymbals simply for how they sound, plain and simple. Bright and cutting do nothing for my ear, and even my 20" K Ride is a little too close on the bright side. Now my K Con Bounce ride on...

Re: Signs you're getting better at the drums

I actually burst out laughing at this one.

I've also listened to recordings of myself in the past, and I can definitely see improvements in my playing. To me though, I don't find myself caring if...

Re: "Alive" (live in the studio)

Wow, that's absolutely fantastic stuff. I think I'm gonna have to pick up a copy of that cd.

Re: Do you feel sorry for today's kids?

I think you're definitely overgeneralizing things here. It's all about where you're listening to music. If it's on the radio, all you'll hear is pop and such (usually; it's POPular for a reason).

Re: Mapex Sledgehamer or G-Bubinga?

I've used it with the Power Centre Reverse Dot before, and I found that centre hits had virtually no overtones, and rimshots would crack like nothing else. It definitely would work for what you want...

Re: Who started 'here' long before they went 'there'?

I started on a drum "kit" made from practice pads. Does that count?

Re: Mapex Sledgehamer or G-Bubinga?

The first and most common and response: try both side by side and see which you prefer.

Now given that this isn't always possible, I'll give my $0.02. I've used my G-Bubinga in just about...

Re: Can memory locks be sexy?

ANDY WHY ARE YOUR DRUMS SO DAMN PERFECT.

Alright, now that we've gotten that outburst outta the way, I'll say that I do indeed think they look sexy. Very sleek, very unassuming. And yet they're...

Re: Ben White I'm impressed

I too got to the point where I didn't care about the cymbal being played, and I just wanted to watch Ben White groove.

Re: Advice required Tama Iron Cobra

Hey there, the limited version is just chrome, that's all. The deal is alright, but you could more than likely do better than that price with a little patience. Don't be afraid to consider other...

The only way I can post pics is with my crappy iPod touch camera; it wouldn't look that great :/

Re: How O.C.D. are you guys with your drums?

I'm not too picky about dents or scrapes, within reason of course. It happens... My kit gets moved around from gig to gig, jam space to rehearsal, etc... And it happens. I don't get mad about it,...

Re: First photos - In-Tense series black walnut stave

Andy, I respectfully disagree.

Those DO look huge, even from the pictures.

Damn, I love your work.
