Re: Upgrade cymbals or drums first?

In your case I would get new drums. You could get new drums, and then just be looking around to see if you can find any killer deals on cymbals. That isn't the popular thing to do around here, but I...

Re: Tama Silverstar Maple Limited Edition

That sounds like a good deal. I like the Silverstar birch drums and personally think they should have Silverstar maples.

Re: If you had to choose between these entry levels

I would go with the PDP's and just use the cymbals you have. You could just get new stands and a case for the cymbals and take them. It would only take a couple minutes to get the cymbals and be a...

Re: I need a bigger car for a bigger kick drum

Bigger is better - How about a Ram 3500 Megacab? I have a Ford Escape, and while I am currently without drums :( I could easily fit a set in the back of mine.

Re: It is now complete!

Same here. I think 5A is the perfect size. Nice job with the set.

Re: Played drums/worship in a 940 year old Cathedral

That's pretty cool. I've been in a few of those old cathedrals when I see them I wonder, how could they afford that? I saw one with a lot of things built out of gold and it must have been worth an...

Re: Need Help Choosing a Drum Set

I haven't heard the Mapex but the PDP set is pretty nice for the price range. If you aren't dead set on buying new you might look for a used set. If you live in the US, look at Craigslist, and...

Re: Should I give up this hobby for drumming?

True, hobbies should be fun, but sometimes developing skills one finds important is not about fun. I trained MMA for a while and hated training, but went and did it anyway, and now I am glad about...

Re: Is the acoustic kit dying?

The acoustic kit will not die. Electric kits have a purpose, but too many will not give up the feel and sound of an acoustic set.

Re: Awesome Craigslist Deal!

That is not a bad deal, but still high. The one originally posted was a much worse deal. This set is worth a good $800, hardware probably $500, and cymbals about $1000. The other one listed is...

Re: Drum Snobs

I tend to pre-judge a person with trashy looking or no-name brand drums, cheap cymbals or not technically sound. Sometimes it is a problem, especially if someone is self-taught, and they do certain...

Re: Tom angles!!!!

Please tell me that is a joke. Those poor, poor drums, what did they do to deserve that???

Re: If you could be endorsed by your companies of choice...

3, 4, 6, 8

3- It would be great to be one of the first to be endorsed or even to endorse the next great drum company.

4- Yamaha or Tama endorsing me would still be too good to pass up.

6-...

Re: Tom angles!!!!

That could be a decent set though. The cymbals are nice.It would help if they were not playing on the resonant head of the bass drum.

PDP Platinum v. Premier Genista Maple

I have a decent amount of money coming in soon. I wanted to save part of it, and upgrade to another set and maybe get another crash as well. I have really been looking at different sets, and like...

Re: Lottery win - which kit?

A Tama Star set for home, and a Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute for a gigging set. I would also go with a set of Sabian AAX cymbals, Zildjian A customs and some Paiste Giant Beats.

Re: Tama superstar - Think I'm getting it tmrw!

It's a solid deal. I don't care as much for the older superstars but you are definitely getting a good deal if everything is in good shape.

Obviously you need a Saturn. Do whatever you want man, but you have the best advice already. I guess in the end do what makes you happy. If you want to be good, listen to the advice here, but if you...

Re: Experts??????????

I guess he would hate my bass drum. A dull thud is nothing like mine. I get a loud BOOM from my bass and it shakes the building. I get compliments everywhere I play, but what do I know. This guy is...

Re: Help: Mid-range drum search with 24" bass

You could look at Ludwig Centennial Maple drums. They are about $1100-1200 and look great with the sizes you want. D-drum makes a set called the reflex bombardier which is $1100 with a 24" bass.

Re: Need help in deciding on my first drumset

Considering you get everything, it is a decent deal. I would not call it a good deal though. Check Guitar Center Used gear and see if there is anything for 250-350 you like, and spend the rest on...

Re: Mounting my drums kills sustain

I had that problem with my imperialstars. I could get the exact sound I wanted, but when I mounted them, everything changed. With four toms I don't know what to tell you. You could try a snare stand...

Re: Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

Some new drummers love talking about the guys that do all of the crazy solo stuff, but I have much more respect for a solid drummer playing with a good band. I honestly don't care to hear a lot of...

Re: How to slowly evolve my drum kit

I know nothing about the poster's kit, but he was talking about adding to his set. With that in mind, I assumed he was at least moderately satisfied with how it sounds. I would actually agree with...
