Re: Colleges? I know this has been done to death!

Belmont University in Nashville, TN is an awesome music school! I'm not a music major, but I'm an entertainment industry studies major there. You can do anything you want: jazz, classical, or...

Re: Truth or Shine?

I will most definitely!

I've thought long and hard about this all day, and I've decided to go with Truth!

Re: Truth or Shine?

Yeah. A friend of mine uses them, but I wasn't very impressed with them.

Perhaps later on in life, I'll buy a vintage kit in addition to my modern custom kit. :)

Yeah. I priced it, and...

Re: Truth or Shine?

Well, I don't think a vintage kit will be good for a metal band. I'm gonna stick with the custom kit. Thanks for the post anyway though. Maybe in the future I'll buy a vintage kit to go along with my...

Re: Truth or Shine?

Thanks! I'll take that into consideration.

All true, Chaos. I just want a kit that looks and sounds great on the inside and out since I'll be shelling out some major cash for it.

Re: Truth or Shine?

I will try to play them first.

College and the disconnect with my passion for drums drew me away from here. My passion has been reignited because some of my friends want to start a band, and they...

You're right, Larry! I'm going with Truth! The Truth will set me free (of guilt and shame from a terrible drum purchase. lol)

Truth or Shine?

Within the next 12-18 months I plan on buying my first ever custom drum kit! However, I'm in a quandary. Truth Custom Drums or Shine Custom Drums? I play metal, pop, punk, and Christian...

Re: Unemployment panic

What kind of non-sense church do you go to?? No doughnuts. Pish posh. MY church has Krispy Kreme doughnuts every Sunday morning.

There actually used to be this Christian kiddie show called...

Re: Unemployment panic

I don't know what your religious beliefs are, but contacting churches would be a good idea. A lot of people don't think of churches as places that HIRE musicians. My drum teacher isn't a Christian,...

Re: Teaching drums to a 4 year old

I'm not a teacher, but I work with children at church. Keep things very simple, and take your time. Remember this kid is 4. He probably hasn't learned how to read yet so don't expect him to learn how...

Re: Cobus vs. VaDrum - Who is better?

They're both amazing, but it would be Cobus aka "deedlebag". I love his style. Very fluid.

Re: Good Drummers for new drummers to listen to

For rock/metal: John Bonham, Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Carl Palmer, etc.

Show him some jazz as well. Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Louie Bellson (RIP), Elvin Jones, etc.

On second thought. Just show...

Re: "The New School" NYC...is there a chance?

What's the matter with trying?

I applied to Belmont University in Nashville even though I doubted I would get in, BUT I got in anyway! (I've decided to go to Belmont as a music business major.)...

Re: Headbanging with headphones

This will make you look kinda stupid, but wearing your headphones with a headband would easily (and cheaply) solve your problem.

Re: Wrist Cramping?

All good advice here. Bad technique, not holding stick properly, warm-up, etc. Something else you should check is your kit set-up. Make sure it's comfortable for both hands (and feet!).

Re: Bass Drum Size and fitting in Car

I have a 2007 Honda Fit. I have yet to put a drum kit in it, but my mom used it to help my brother move into his college dorm so it can hold a good bit.

Re: How long could it take to be a good drummer.

Drumming is a lifelong pursuit. For example there are 100's of brush techniques and patterns which means it is nearly impossible to learn them all (unless you hole yourself up in your drum room...

Re: New Truth Kit

I love Truth kits, but I gotta say yours has to be one of the cleanest, classiest ones I've seen. I love seeing crazy graphics, but it's nice to see something simple and clean.

Thumbs up for your...
