Re: The 16x14 floor tom

Eau contraire mon fraire !! Sonor tradition says 20x14, 13x8, 16x15 with the below pictured 60's tear drop kit. Don't mess with Sonor. ;)

Re: Poor Mapex

I find most people that criticize Mapex are either uninformed or haven't ever played them.

Re: Gretsch With Triple Flange Hoops?

Put some S-hoops on the batter sides. That will save you some weight. I don't find the Brooklyn's particularly heavy especially compared to an older Gretsch 57 kit I had with the die casts. Maybe hit...

Re: NDD: Gretsch Brooklyn Cream Oyster

Excellent review. Kit looks awesome with the black slate Sonor snare! Just an FYI, Ryan (AZ heat) turned me on to the Evans UV1's for the toms on these kits and they really sound great both on the...

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

You can't legislate taste. Some people will like the way they look and some won't. You can't argue with the options available with DW Collectors kits. I've heard plenty of them live and they sound...

Re: NDD: Gretsch Brooklyn Cream Oyster

Here's a matching 14x5.5 snare for your kit !! I'd grab it myself but I'm tapped out of drum funds.

Re: The needless debate over drum construction and the misguided search for undo drum resonance

Word....There are some REALLY condescending people on here trying to maintain their status as "forum stars". Thankfully they're offset by the many knowledgeable and friendly drummers that are here to...

Re: Cascio Interstate

I guess you can't read very well. I specifically mentioned that I DON'T work for them. But don't let that get in the way of your sarcastic posts. Plus, Pittsburgh to Wisconsin would be a bit too long...

Re: whats the silver in Gretsch shells?

That's all you need to know about it. Don't buy a Gretsch kit without it! ;)

Re: NDD: Gretsch Brooklyn Cream Oyster

Now you're talkin' !! I have the same kit/same finish minus the 14" FT. I think Gretsch really nailed it with the Brooklyn series. Maple/poplar creates a VERY versatile tuning range. You can tune...

Re: Question for Ludwig players

As a former player of 24" bass drums, my opinion is that a 22x17.5" Prolite kick will give you all the bottom end you'll need. Just an FYI, I think Prolite availability is winding down in the USA. It...

Re: Gretsch USA Custom 14x6.5 Cast Aluminum

It's not uncommon for people to talk about drum gear on a drummers' forum, in the DRUM GEAR subforum. That shouldn't confuse you but well, you are from Los Angeles so I'll leave it at that.

Re: Question for Ludwig players

I played Ludwig for 20 years. Granted it was 70's thru early 90's. I got tired of everything breaking, from foot pedals to tom mounts to shells cracking and splitting. My advice, try to find a new...

Re: Anyone ever switch your "brand loyalty?" (Mid-life crisis for me?)

It's ok to follow your heart as long as your wallet wants to go on the ride too. I'd never played a Sonor kit until late last year. Now I've got two that I was VERY fortunate to get at blowout...
