Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

I'm sure if you did more digging, you'd find plenty more like those. That's just Bo - it's what he does.

Re: I need your advice please

Re: Gretsch USA Custom vs. Broadkaster vs. Brooklyn Video

The USA's and the Broadkasters sound really close to me, but I like the Broadkasters a hair more just for the vibe.
Not too hot for the Brooklyns, but different strokes and all that.

Re: Building a collection

If you're in school now (is), use what you have, and don't even think about getting more.

Be careful what you buy. The GAS bug bit me big time, and I'm still getting rid of some excess stuff I...

Re: Die cast hoops

I was responding to the original post.
Probably should have quoted it, (like below)
as threads tend to derail sometimes.

Re: Weights inside new Yamaha bass drum. Can someone explain how this works?

Ya - I had a Mapex bass drum that was really heavy.
With all the hardware off, it wasn't too much heavier than the norm.
But man - you practically needed a wheel barrow to move that thick, heavy...

Re: Weights inside new Yamaha bass drum. Can someone explain how this works?

Wouldn't it make more sense just to build heavier shells in the first place then,

rather than build lightweight shells and start adding weights to them after they're done.

I bet they'll say...

Re: Weights inside new Yamaha bass drum. Can someone explain how this works?

Seems like a gimmick to me, and one that adds unnecessary weight.
It would have to provide a really dramatic change in sound for it to be taken seriously.

I think that most people who would want...

Re: Should I?

Drum for drum, I think the Tamas will be heavier.
All very nice drums, but like you say, you have two Oak kits now.

The Live Oaks are just discontinued, and their replacements are nearly...

Re: Ludwig Centennial Zep kit information

Ya - you have to check the site often, and be ready to act quickly.
When they go on sale, it usually doesn't last for long.

Re: Any opinions on the Mapex V Series?

I think those might be like this: https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/drums/mapex-v-series-kit-26738

Depending on what you're doing, they'll probably get the job done.

Re: Notable and New at NAMM

The should sound good, and be a lot less expensive than some of the other options.

Re: Almonds Good for your Health?

Saw that one recently. Was a bit surprised at the price, but then again not,
considering the source.

The Lake Superior Timeless Timber set was the only thing I've ever seen from them...
