Re: Too Old To Seriously Take Up Drumming?

I started drumming about a year ago. I am 50. I would say any age is a good age to start playing music.

Re: Whatcha think of this Craigslist Ludwig snare?

I figured out pretty fast that it was worth a lot more. I texted the owner, he said it was spoken for, but I would be next in line. I did not have my hopes up too far, since I won't be in that area...

Re: Whatcha think of this Craigslist Ludwig snare?

I imagine it will be long gone by the time I can get to it this afternoon. Seems like a lot of good deals in Louisville for a tire kicker like me...

From photobucket, you can cut and paste the IMG link right onto your message as text, or use the link that says "direct" and paste that into the paperclip/attachment button on Drummerworld. If you...

Re: Vintage Drum Bearing Edges

Thanks for the replies and input!

I saw another Steve Maxwell YouTube video of a drum tech who flattened the bearing edge on sandpaper attached to plywood, and only used his surface plate for...

Re: Vintage Drum Bearing Edges

Thanks for the links to the videos! I thought it was interesting that Mr. Vecchio said that the particular Ludwig example he showed had unusually sharp bearing edges, and that the 70s three ply B/O...

Vintage Drum Bearing Edges

I picked up some old Ludwigs this week, and I am in the process of getting them back in shape. I noticed on both the 12 and 13 inch toms that the area of the bearing edge where the overlap is...

Re: new guy needs advice on drum to engrave

That is beautiful engraving in your post- is that your work? Looks great! I think a Black Beauty would look great, and I agree about the bronze with tube lugs. A plain old Supraphonic with bad...

Re: Vintage Slingerlands

What great people there are here, thanks! I suspect it is a 12/12 rack tom kit, with a 20 inch bass drum. I will wait to hear back again from the owner- the big deciding factors for me are the...

Re: Vintage Slingerlands

I bet you are right about the age of the drums. I think that the tom mount might be original though. Looks a bit suspect but I have seen photos of similar big plates on the bass drum.

Now that...

Vintage Slingerlands

Hi there, checking back in again about more drums I am kicking the tires on. I got some pictures of some Slingerlands a guy has for sale. He says they are from the 1950s. I hope to go look at them...

Re: Ludwig Centennials on CL - opinions?

Thanks for the replies! This may be a no go for me, seems like the 16 inch tom and the snare are MIA. I saw six tom legs, but he has it listed as a three piece. May be a great deal for the right...

Re: ipad or tablet? and general advice

I don't really have an answer for your question- I have a first generation iPad my wife bought me for Christmas several years ago, and I am lukewarm at best on them- but welcome to the world of drums!
