Re: Dual ride positioning

Thanks folks! That gives me some good ideas of things to try. I'll have to play with it a bit to find out what feels best to me. (@dennis - man, I love your collection of kits!)

Dual ride positioning

I picked up a second 20" ride for a high def ping, and more jazz sound, and I'd like to use both my rides, but I'm not sure how to position them. I'm kind of a right side and low ride guy, so this...

Re: Weckl's Big Announcement

I hope he isn't announcing the recall of my Sabian Dave Weckl signature series HHX Evolution cymbals.
I like then a lot.
If he moves to Paiste, he's dead to me. :)

Re: Home drum isolation booth

Get an e-kit and you won't be sorry. I've got a Yamaha DTX-550 that does the job nicely (although, it's still not like pounding on the a-kit, which I have to do frequently).

Re: Electronic drums

Yamaha DTX 5xx series is very nice, and sounds great. I got this DTX 550 for about 1500.
I really wanted a "mechanical" hi-hat, and the DTX snare is really nice. It is great for playing through...

Re: Jason Bonham

Here's one thing he's been doing.

I've got their first album and it's pretty good, but doesn't quite live up to the hype IMHO.
I hope the new one they are making is better.

Re: Start playing congas

I own congas and love them. I don't have great technique, but I can hit them and know some of the Latin rhythms. They are really fun to play, and some songs just beg for congas underneath. I'd...

Re: Do you use a cowbell?

Part of the kit for when it's needed. And it is needed.

Re: Drum set up - What's the matter with people?

Playing e-drums has made me appreciate a tight kit. The picture you posted is not what I would choose, but I certainly wouldn't call it dysfunctional or judge the player by it. It may be "just the...

Re: First pictures - Guru Origin series - Drummerworld exclusive!

The true test is "How do they sound?"
"In theory, reality and theory are the same. In reality, they are not".
I'd love to hear some sound clips. :)
