Yup! On my 24" I am running force( PS3 Eqiv',I use ambassadors for really Big Venues, and outdoors) with 3.5" wide felt strips. Reso tensioned around a 3rd or more above the batter, which I would say...

Depending on the sizes, I would go as little as 5 ply with the larger drums. the thinner shells IMO seem to resonate better, and offer a lower note for the larger sizes, say from 16 on up. 8 or 10...

Has to do with the "Room" also. And remember, all that crap that folks try to muffle out, is lost when the band starts playing anyways. For me, I like single ply heads, with felt strips in the bass...

Thanks for all the replies Guys! I have my 24 setup with ambassadors, and 3.5" wide felt on each head, i would say a little less than medium tension...sounds really good in a loud, unmic'ed setting,
