Re: So,I Got a Brass Sensitone..

Funny, I watched that first video when looking for a brass snare and love the sound as well. I do think that besides tuning, the fact that both of those clips have a very live room always make snares...

Re: Danny Seraphine

I grew up in Chicago and was a big fan of the band. I actually gave a few lessons to his daughter who was just a lovely girl. She took me to a show and to meet Danny. It was the last tour he did with...

Re: Anyone own or played the 14x6.5 Yamaha Bell Brass snare

I'm sorry I was wrong on the dimension. The snare is Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare 7x14 Drum. I was told it was bell brass. Thanks for the info.

Anyone own or played the 14x6.5 Yamaha Bell Brass snare

I've watched a couple of things on youtube but there isn't much out there on this snare. Wondering how it compares to BB or even the cheaper alt. Pork Pie Big Black Brass.

Re: Ben White I'm impressed

I prefer George to Ben. Really wish someone would play with both a rock and jazz approach when striking the cymbals.

Any problems wearing both earplugs and ear muffs?

I have both tinnitus and hyperacusis. As a result I wear both ear plugs and ear muffs. I realize the decrease in db's is pretty minimal in wearing both. My question is, anyone else have problems...

Re: Is there a sound difference between the 60's & 70 COB Powertone snare

Thanks for the replies guys. One that I'm checking out is I believe from the 60's marked Dayton Ohio. The photo is quite bad and I can't tell if the lugs are B&B or Beavertail. Did they even do...

Is there a sound difference between the 60's & 70 COB Powertone snare

I'm in the market for a 5x14 COB power tone. Just wondering if there is a certain year(s) that are better than others. Looking for the fattest of the bunch if there is such a thing.

I've seen that color in person and it didn't look that great. I thought it looked great on the show last night though.

Re: Size for Floor tom legs for Ludwig Standard?

Thanks guys.

Bo I'm not seeing anything smaller than 9.5mm or 3/8 even in the vintage ones offered on ebay. I may just have to file them down a bit like you did if they end up being to big.

Re: A new model for record labels?

I spent many years in original projects in LA. Went through everything from being wined and dined from the majors to trying to be seduced by the indie label that would give you "proper" attention. I...

Re: A few photos of my newly acquired 1969 Ludwig Gold Strata Standards

Bo, I actually am using a black dot with the felt. I'm thinking you may be right about the 5" hole being too big. I will probably start with a 4" hole. I looking at those gibraltor protectors for the...

A few photos of my newly acquired 1969 Ludwig Gold Strata Standards

I haven't owned a legitimate drum set in over seven years. I had moved into a small house developed severe tinnitus and sold my 70's marine pearl Ludwig kit(which I regret of course). I've slowly...

Re: Ludwig Standards restored (aka the Blue Meanie lives!)

They look great! I also just purchased a Standard kit (Bronze Strata) last month. Should have photos up next week. They sound great and are so light. Transporting will not be killing my back.

Wanted to thank everybody again for the suggestions. Went to see Bob Rodriguez of On The Edge Drums. Such a nice guy. He fixed my tom right up on the spot.
