Re: New Kit DW Performance

Definately try taking the pillows out. It opens the bass drum up a lot.

Re: New Kit DW Performance

Awesome buy man! I actually have the exact same kit and holy crap it sounds sooo good. The wrap is top notch I can assure you I just went on an 11 day tour with it and have kinda dinged it up a bit...

Re: Anyone prefer standard depth?

I played a 13x7 brass snare for a while. I ended up trading it for a 14x5.5 brass snare and I do prefer it. I like how deep and fat sounding a 6.5 is but at the end of the day, I think I like the...

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

That's cool! You have totally earned that Bermuda. If I am not mistaken you have been with Al since he first started, and that is quite the career. You deserve every upgrade you guys get.

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

Totally. I am def doing the checklist as I have (never on the road) left stuff at the gig. Luckily I always got it back. Again, the advice and also encouragment you guys are giving me is so...

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

Thanks man! Yeah, this is probably the 10th time I've played on the road and never had a problem with not making enough money or a show falling through. I'm pumped! It does seem like some posters...

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

Why do you have a bad feeling about my tour? Is that actually based on anything? I am hyper aware about gear ( I usually sleep in the van or load our gear in with us) and none of us are people who...

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

Haha! Contract. Sorry I did not mean that rudley, more poking fun at myself. I forget that you guys are in some legit bands so I'm sure you may expect things I don't.

But like I said, we are an...

Thanks for the advice Bermuda, not only is it great (a checklist, I will do this!) but I am a huge fan of yours (and Al's of course). This forum rules

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

Yeah Bo, no offense but that is nuts. Then again, I have always booked my tours myself (DIY!) and play a lot of house shows, and I almost NEVER sleep in a hotel. Honestly sleeping in a hotel would...

Re: Going on Tour would like some advice!

Actually stretching is something I have newly integrated into my warm up routine and it works wonders. I also run a lap or two (tho I am not a good runner) around the venue right before and I haven't...

Going on Tour would like some advice!

One of the best things about this forum is the plethora of experienced musicians with great advice and insight. I am going on an 11 day tour playing 11 cities, no breaks. I have been on tour a few...

Re: Wood vs Metal

As far as preference I also had wood snares (birch, maple, poplar) and they all sounded pretty good. Then I tried a brass snare for the first time and my mind was blown. I also like aluminum a lot, I...

Re: DW performance finish ply

I get what you're saying but the Performance series has scaled down lugs. I will say they are still larger than some other lugs but hey they sound amazing! so who cares? I don't mean that in a rude...

Re: DW performance finish ply

I have a DW Performance Series in Pewter Sparkle. Sadly, I did scratch up my kick drum a bit when unloading while tipsy on tour. The good news is the wrap is super durable, so it doesn't look bad at...

Re: worth it?

Okay I think I get where bmeat is coming from. I do notice on a lot of forums when someone has an interest in getting a new kit people kinda just revert to telling you to keep your kit, that it is...

Re: Looking for solid value kit on a $1500-$1700 budget.

They may not have GC in Canada but you still have ebay and craigslist which are great for finding used drums. I've seen all maple kits with hardware and good cymbals for under $1500 on CL for sure....

Re: First Intermediate Kit

I just wanted to comment that Ddrum blows hard IMHO. I got a kit from them that arrived cracked (the bass drum spur). They replaced that with one that didn't match. Then the lugs cracked (within a...
