Re: Sight Reading

If you search for "sight reading" on here you'll come on with a couple of older threads about the same thing, so you could read those suggestions too.

As the others said, just sight read...

Re: Bare Feet, Socks or Shoes?

I can't remember if I posted in this thread already - was a while ago if I did.

At home I mostly play in bare feet or socks - now that it's summer here I play mostly bare feet. I did buy myself...

Re: Young drummer in need of help asap!

I think it would be hard to go from reading basic sheet music to complicated jazz songs. I haven't got much advice, you just need to find someone who can help you with it.

When I started playing...

Re: Playing drums with bad emotions.........

If I'm angry, I usually go and sit at my kit because playing drums relaxes me. I can be at absolute boiling point and as soon as I sit down and play a few notes - whoosh - the anger is gone. I'm so...

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

There are a lot of people who THINK they can't do things, when in fact they are too scared of failure to try, or because they THINK they can't do something, they don't even bother. When I started...

Re: Suggestion for the site: Recording topic

I think it would be great - and try and keep some of it not too technical for those of us who are tecnologically challenged! I read some of the recording threads and it made little sense to me (like...

Re: How Hard Do You Hit Your Drums?

Well, I think I play mine at a medium level? As I haven't been playing long, I'm not in a band so I don't need to play hard to be heard - mostly I am just practicing on my own. I've just started...

Re: Female drummers?

My husband is not teaching me, but he was really excited when I got my drumkit coz he thinks it's really sexy for a woman to play drums. I always stuff up whatever I'm playing when he watches me...

Re: Female drummers?

Freakishly muscular? I saw her just over a week ago at a drum workshop - she looked well toned but she didn't look freakishly muscular. She was awesome though, her playing gave me goosebumps.

Re: When do you consider yourself a drummer??

Well, I haven't called myself a "drummer" yet - I've been playing for a couple of months or so now. If I meet someone and they ask my interests or hobbies, I don't say "I'm a drummer", I usually say...

Re: Female drummers?

I don't know why there aren't more female drummers. Maybe there are, maybe a lot just don't try to make a living from it, I dunno. Maybe too many are under the misconception you need a lot of...

Re: Female drummers?

I think a lot of "non-drumming" people (or anybody with no knowledge of drums) think females can't play, solely because they think you need to be strong to play drums. They don't realise it's more...

Re: can i have a go on your kit?

Well, I'm not at gigging stage yet, but what is it with EVERY person that walks into your house (well, not EVERY), but people you know, or sort of know, and they see the drums and ask to have a go,...

Re: Is 15 too old to start playing?

Well, if 15 is too old to start playing, then I've seriously made a big boo-boo. I'm nearly 35 and just started lessons and bought a kit. I WANTED to start at 14/15 but it didn't happen. Then...
