Re: Drumming pain

absolutely a technique issue... just because you studied with someone and know to stay relaxed etc, etc... doesn't prevent you from falling back into bad habits...

sounds like you're gripping...

You can get yourself in trouble if you're counting -- especially with older/traditional blues cats -- you're better off watching/listening/following the singer and or soloist... after playing blues...

Re: Stupid things drunk people do at gigs

1) Drunk fat boy, showing off his dance moves -- lost it and did a face plant directly into the band. knocked over one PA speaker, singers mic stand (nearly knocking his teeth out), guitar amp,...

Re: Let's talk soloing, again.

Good thread Larry -- I don't consider myself a great soloist by any stretch of the imagination, never particularly liked taking solos... but as you know, it's part of the deal so I suck it up.

Re: So how many different snares do you use on a gig?

Just one - but always with a spare handy...

interestingly enough, I've broken a handful of snare heads (even snare side blow-outs) early on -- ever since I've started bringing a spare, no...

Re: Ist gig done...underwhelming

Well done Mary - for a first gig, that's killer... I've heard much worse from bands that have been playing the bar circuit for years. YOU sounded great, as everyone's already said... let me...

Re: First Gig Blues

Sorry to hear all this Mary -- but it does happen unfortunately... and trust me, 1/2 of most audiences couldn't tell a good band from a horrible one -- if they recognize the tunes and can sing...

Re: lug keep de tuning

The type of hoop isn't your problem -- it's going to happen, those lugs you're pounding on are just going to loosen... luglocks and some of the other suggestions will help... sleeved washers and...

Re: Ever see a 'big time' drummer before they were famous? Tell us about it!

Years ago (early 90's I guess) there was a regional metal band called 'Wrathchild America', later changed their name to 'Souls At Zero' -- they were incredible, sort of a progressive rock/metal kind...

Re: After decades, I'm letting go of the 5x14 size
