Re: Who won the Weckl/Colaiuta/Gadd drum-off?

Yes. That's the most musical bit.

I'm digging up this thread to ask... is there a tab of that groove anywhere (or what is it, please pardon my ignorance)?
I have the one page solo of the...

Re: Things that go through my head while I'm playing a gig:

Ahahha. Can totally relate to this.
Sometimes during gigs, due to nervousness, I blank before songs. No damn idea of what I'm supposed to play until the guitarist plays the first note :-)
Then it...

Re: Downsizing - questions about bop size bass drums

Interesting.
Let us know when/where :)

I agree with 8 mile.
a 20" might be a better choice.

Re: Songs that are recognizable just by the beat

I would add Carter Beauford to your list. His hi-hat accents/interplay with ride are pretty much his signature.

Another song: Shake hands with beef by Primus.

Re: Drummers who have influenced you

Dave Grohl (not musically, but I was a kid at the time and got me obsessed with drums)
Carter Beauford (most influential)
Luke Flowers (with Cinematic Orchestra)
Dennis Chambers

Re: How to find a 1997-1999 Starclassic 16" tom?

Got it yesterday in the mail.
Just come back from the shop today to get the extra clamp/stand, heads, etc.

Regarding the badge difference, there are some minor differences, and I suspect this...

Re: dave grohl 'your voice' SXSW

Seen in live earlier today. I love Grohl.

He knows how to deliver a speech. :)
But it sounded like parts of it came from Brannigan's "This is a Call". Or, more likely, he tells the stories in the...

Re: Bo's carpal tunnel update

Interesting read, thanks for sharing!
I started having problems with my right hand, on & off for the last two years.

I always assumed it was me not doing regular warm-ups anymore (and overall,...

Re: How to find a 1997-1999 Starclassic 16" tom?

I'm just checking the badges.
There is a small difference, even though the drums should not be too much apart in age.

My kit has the badge that says "SERIAL No" and then the serial starts with 01...

Re: Ebay crimes against innocent drums...

Looking for Starclassic Performer floor toms... I recently came across a 16" Starclassic tom that was painted WHITE, and by the looks of it, with a paintbrush... spilling all over the badges, etc.

Re: What did you pay, back in the day?

I don't remember exactly, but in 1998 when I got my Tama Starclassic it was around 2 millions or maybe a bit below that. Well that was in old Liras (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_lira). :-)

Re: Pretty old Yamaha Club Custom snare in need of some care

Finally managed to bring it over here after xmas (just one year later).
Today I disassembled it, gave all the metal parts a deep clean, new grease for the nuts, new snare wires and heads... and I...

Re: How to find a 1997-1999 Starclassic 16" tom?

Actually... you stand correct, Sir. :-)

Well, I started saving a few searches with email alerts on eBay. Let's see if I hit the jackpot with an indigo blue one (same colour as mine).

How to find a 1997-1999 Starclassic 16" tom?

Hi, I'm the really happy owner of a Tama Starclassic Performer that I bought new back in 1998 (I was 18 at the time...).

I'm still using it and just recently I was considering adding a 16"...

I'm "reviving" this thread, because I'm trying to figure out correctly a groove that Luke Flowers plays on As The Stars Fall.

This is the audio clip. I got it from the live CD I bought after the...

Re: How do I get this snare sound?

I'm going to thank you as well.
I just purchased Try!
Didn't know SJ (I love him) played with Mayer... and that they did this.

Re: First drum kit stories!

First drum kit was the cheapest one in the music shop.

A Sakura drum kit with a really shallow bass drum, 4 nuts per tom. It was truly terrible. Bought it 50/50 with my friend and bass player at...
