Re: DW Collectors for Djent

Do you know what Halpern uses or what Postones uses? That might not be a bad place to start. Good luck!

Let us know what you end up getting and be sure to share some pics of your new shells.

Re: Sonor soon.

Swapped to the G2s today with the EQ3 on the kick. Tuned the resos slightly higher to kill some of the resonance too. The 14 FT sounds MUCH better now. The kick and the 12 still aren't satisfactory...

Re: Sonor soon.

Bought the boom stands because they can collapse down to straight stands if needed. I'm saving up for more cymbals, which also means more stands, so I wanted the flexibility offered by booms. I...

Re: Sonor soon.

I have a hard time believing they'd skimp on the heads on the Prolite series. Regardless, I didn't order any G1s and will use what's on there as the resos. Got a set of G2s that should arrive...

Re: Sonor soon.

Not sure if I should start a new thread or not, but I reckon I'll keep using this one until I'm ready to do a full review of the kit in a week or two.

Question about heads. I've played with a...

Re: Sonor soon.

Thanks! That should be my dining area. I put a black cloth over the table for the individual drum shots and now it's sitting somewhere amongst all the boxes and wrapping material towards the front...

Pardon the mess, but I guess if you're looking at that, you've missed the point :p

Re: Sonor soon.

Indeed. I never thought I would've owned a set. The first exposure to them was seeing Igor Cavalera jam a set of them in the Barcelona video. I will have to say I'm quite impressed. It's too late...

Re: Sonor soon.

Definitely not going to get to play them tonight. I've inspected everything so far and these things are just beautiful. The shells are so thin! I'll have to post pics tomorrow. I might set it up...

Re: Sonor soon.

Got it from the fed ex store and unpacked it on my lunch break. Got a couple of quick questions for you Sonor people out there.

The bass drum hoops have two different edges. I'm guessing the...

Re: Tuning help for 18" floor tom...

For what it's worth I always had trouble getting a sound I liked out of my 18" floor tom on my old kit. It wasn't until I put a different head on it that I got a sound I liked out of it. So my 10,...

Re: Sonor Gavin Harrison Protean Signature Snare Drum

I'd buy one if I had the money. I've yet to play on one, so what I'm about to write is worthless to anyone that's played one and liked it, but I must say I'm a little leary of the S-hoops. I know...

Re: Sonor soon.

I've only played around with it briefly. I've never used a fabric based pedal, but this one has got it. It feels very smooth. I'm definitely digging the two legged stand; it's quite stable. Tama...

Sonor soon.

Got the hardware yesterday and the shells are sitting at the local fed ex distribution center ready for delivery on Monday. Can't wait! I also got a speed cobra double pedal (not pictured).

Re: Sonor tom holders...

Thanks, I'm still a little sick in the stomach, which happens whenever I make big purchases (car, house...who knew a drumset would do the same?)

I tried to talk them down on the 8" but they didn't...

Re: Sonor tom holders...

As Ed MacMahon would say, "You are correct, sir!" Turns out it has the bass drum mount after all. It was what they ordered for Gavin's clinic at their store. I pulled the trigger on it minus the...

Re: Sonor tom holders...

I bet it is, but after the hit the piggy bank will take from the shell pack, I'm thinking Tama hardware all the way.

Re: Sonor tom holders...

Thanks guys! I love this forum, such a helpful community.

After looking more closely I see it comes with the DTH 475 double tom holder. I suppose I could remove them from the main bracket and...

Re: Sonor tom holders...

Ha ok, I was unclear. The toms have mounts. But since the bass drum has no mount I'll have to mount them on stands. What curious about is the male end, the rods. Will the female end of the Sonors...
