Re: Nick Menza

How is Shawn a lazy drummer? He's spot on with everything. He plays like a metronome. His work on Endgame was really good, too. It was a big step up from his drumming on United Abominations. Check...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Since when is being a technical drummer boring? You can groove like a mofo and be technical at the same time. Look at Steve Gadd. I would argue that it's BORING to play Larses stuff and not very fun...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Lars keeps the music going, okay, that's fine. I'm glad he has fun too. But when we talk about his actual level of talent and musicality it doesnt go very far. He's just not very good, it's very...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Lars inspired me to start drumming. I give him that. But after a mere year and a half of playing I started to realize he wasn't very good. I would say he reached his best at And justice For all, he...

Re: Help with jazz soloing and trading fours

I'm no expert on this but i think i'm getting pretty good at this kind of stuff.

Usually what i'll do is i'll listen to a rhythm or occuring theme in the song and i'll start off with the same...

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

Another one of my greatest weaknesses is playing in front of semi large groups of people. It seems like I drum GREAT when im practicing alone, good infront a few people, and then when it's a large...

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

I would say my biggest weakness as a drummer is my left foot. Mainly keeping my left foot as a steady ostinato then soloing over it, I still don't have that 100% independance thing going on.

Re: Double Bass FLAMS!!!

Do Flam accents with your feet and do flam taps with your hands ontop of it, it helps your double bass chops and helps your interindependance. It may be a little difficult at first so go really slow,...

Re: Mike Portnoy

I don't see what there is to hate about Portnoys playing. It has a nice mix of mostly everything in it, only thing that I think is missing from his playing is more doubles, and even tripples. Whats...
