Re: I can't believe I did this...

Rad! That thing looks sweet and I bet it's as loud as hell. I put my 14x8" Tama Birch snare on the kit the other day. Man, that thing explodes! Gotta love deep, powerful snares.

Enjoy brother!

Re: Dream Kit

There are so many great kits out there. It's a great time to be a drummer.

But for me, I am living the dream...

Happy with my Ludwig Classic Maples and huge Paiste 2002s.

Re: Ludwig floor tom leg placement?

Haha..

So it sounds like it is more common than not. I have owned two different kits, Tama Granstar, and a newer Tama Artstar that use the equal spacing approach. So I have gotten used to that,...

Re: Ludwig floor tom leg placement?

Thanks for the comments and compliments.

I had to laugh a bit at myself for not noticing the "eisle" leg placement earlier. I have to say that while it hasn't been the easiest drum purchase, with...

Ludwig floor tom leg placement?

So I just picked up my second replacement floor tom for my Ludwig Classic Maple kit. The first floor tom was a bit out of round, mostly on the resonant side, and the heads didn't seat properly. ...

I would totally have a gong if I could find one for the right price. One day the stars will align for me...

Re: My floor tom may be out of round.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking this myself. I hope they figured out what it was and fixed it. Might be worth checking your 16x16" floor if you have picked up a Ludwig Classic Maple recently.

Re: My floor tom may be out of round.

Update:

I have a picture of my drum being made, checked, and rechecked, I imagine. This will be my third floor tom for this kit, (second replacement). Still no word on when it will get here, but...

Re: Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

Sweet gear man! Looking forward to seeing pics of your new Vistalites. I play some large Ludwigs as well. I really dig the 26" bass drum. Our band plays a very similar backline as well. If you...

Re: I accept defeat.

Different strokes for different folks.

I love large drums tuned a bit tighter and leave my bass reso intact. That's me and I love the sound. I also play smaller rock and roll venues. Sometimes...

Re: My floor tom may be out of round.

So I just picked up my replacement 16" floor tom today. Fairly quick turnaround. However, this tom seems to have the same issue. WTH?

So I picked up the drum from the shop, dropped off my old...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple or Vistalite?

Yup. Get the BIG ones. They are SO fun to play. Pay no attention to guy flailing around behind that beautiful Ludwig Classic Maple kit.

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple or Vistalite?

It seems you are comparing large oranges to small apples. : )

My vote is to get the big Bonham sized Ludwig Classic Maples, or maybe Bonham sized Vistas. I imagine that the fab22 kit is roughly...

Re: Funnest Gig you've ever played?

We played a couple polar extreme shows as far as temp goes. One was in an uninsulated smallish garage that hosted a lot of underground shows. It was a good bit below freezing. There was a tiny...

Re: My floor tom may be out of round.

Got word today that Ludwig will build a new one for me and allow me to hold on to the odd one till the new one shows up. It's funny, but I have not bought a new kit since 1991, but if and when I...

Re: My floor tom may be out of round.

Thanks for the information. When I first received the drum and noticed this issue, I thought that it must have been a slight issue with the head. It seemed that the stock Ludwig head came on and...

My floor tom may be out of round.

So almost a year ago I got a set of New Ludwig Classic Maple drums. When I got them, I swapped out all the heads. The bottom head for my floor tom came off easy enough, but when I put the Remo...

Re: Heavy music, where did the ride go?

It sort of depends. I think for certain sub-genres, many drummers have gone down a similar popular path of ultra staccato blasts, and abrupt time changes and whatnot. Everything has its place, but...

I am visiting family and about to head off to find something to keep me occupied.

When I searched, I got a lot of great recommendations about drum rudiments, patterns and whatnot, but little in...
