Re: Since Hal Blaine has passed.....

I think you mean Matt Chamberlain (though Matt Cameron is well versed to do studio work with many people).

Re: Since Hal Blaine has passed.....

Who on earth ever thought it wasn't Duane Allman? That was a given.

Re: Acoustic treatment tiny room

Good advice all above.
As for what you are hearing when you play in such a small space - ear protection. It will actually be easier to make out sounds of your drums and cymbals with some earplugs or...

Re: The ubiquitous LM400

Not really. Have a look at Pearl Masters Custom or Studio. 4 plies maple with re-rings, and on the cheaper side of the spectrum. You might have to buy used.

Re: Help me get this snare sound

Thats an Acrolite. I read a long interview with Keeler about that recording online a few years ago and he describes the drums they used. The drum sound on the opening is quite something.
But no...

Re: Crossroads

Something will come along Larry. You're a great drummer and I'm sure they knew that. Did the band even ask you why you quit?

Re: Anyone regret having your drum cut down?

I think it will actually increase its value. 20 x 20 is not so desirable.
Go for it.

Re: Hal Blaine passed

Aside from all the great music he created, what a rich and incredible life, and to have affected so many people in such a positive way.

To think he nearly lost this long life at young age in a...

Re: What is Classic Rock?

To me, its rock that has seen excessive radio play, making it popular.
I'd say it includes all the way into the 80's and even 90's (take Collective Soul's Gel or Shine, can be heard on many a...

Re: Bernard Purdie vs Tony Allen

Thanks, that was enjoyable.
The gear mashups of brands etc. - that is likely all that was on hand and provided for these guys by their hosts. I doubt they packed any of that stuff there.

I am certainly guilty of this kind of insanity, trying the same thing again hoping for a different...

If something is too good to be true, odds are it is, as you've discovered 3 times.
In 1981 Narcotics Anonymous stated: 'insanity is repeating the same mistake and expecting a different outcome'....

Re: Practicing without a kit?

There are practice setups that have multiple pads, to represent the different surfaces of a kit(hats, toms) , even the bass drum.

You can also innovate with more than one practice or surface. One...

Re: Drummer-Bassist Observations

Hmmmm, in my experience singers can have the worst time, words off-cue and all. But I don't play with complete total pros.

I have to agree it can depend on the band. cp photos example is a good...

Re: Band member question

He is now 50% of the band, so can control the musical direction of this band to adopt even his elitist version of extreme medal. That requires stepping up. My guess he is finding it easier to just go...

Re: Help a Dad out buying used set for son.

"It should, but never assume anything with CL. Don't know if it matters much but the kick looks pretty small - like an 18" diameter. Might want to ask the seller what sizes the drums are."

Re: New gretch catalina club drums

Beautiful set! congrats.
You asked for enhancements/improvements. I would take those plastic tone rings off the tom heads and let them sing rather than deaden the tone.

Re: Wanting to build a website for drummers - Any Ideas? Input?

from what I can see, (2) and (3) are pretty much accomplished by this site, Drummerworld, which I would deem a 'website for drummers'.
You may want to have a look at the 'Drumeo' site for an example...

Re: Torn Between 2 New Snares
