Re: What's your latest purchase?

I realy like the Clayton Cameron brushes, the long handle and the gauge of the wire is perfect for me. I guess making them retractable would probably change the feel to much.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Thanks! The finish is pretty good. There's a bit of snare rash on the small tom and the BD hoops are dinged up. But, I'm more happy with the finish. One of my good friends is furniture...

Re: Drummers who don't use cymbal stoppers

I don't use the top felt. I'm not a heavy hitter and my cymbals are big enough to stay in place. However, I use the wing nut to keep track of the lower felt when I'm packing/unpacking. Sometimes the...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Thanks and thanks! Even the guy I bought them from was cool ... and the price was right.
I'm still working on the tuning though. They sound pretty good but I'm not sure I have the right heads on...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Got these for my 50th. I'd been looking for Tama Superstars in these sizes for a while with not much luck. That was until my lovely wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday... I opened CL and...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I just picked up a 1983 Tama SuperStar shell pack. 13, 16, 22x14 cherry finish. I'm pretty stoked because I've been looking for exactly these drums for some time now.
The only problem is, is that I...

Re: Don't do that!

If you don't want this guys walking in on your jams you better figure out a way to end this relationship before he gets to familiar with your space.

Re: 15" snare drums..pros and cons?

Good question. I've often wondered about that nice big surface for playing brushes.

Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

I was talking to this guy (longtime drummer) and and his (30-something) daughter and when she realizes I'm also a drummer... she kind of stops, looks at me and says, with a good does of snark,

Re: Terry Bozzio: All Cymbals

Kinda cool.
I recently found myself trying to explain to a drummer friend, who thought/thinks his giant kit is pure show-off, that's he's just trying to push the limits of what you can do as a drum...

Drumming as sport? a new take on it

As I've mentioned in the past regarding this question it's all about the watts.

It's important to note the rider isn't in a race which usually lasts (at his level) 4 to 6 hours of intensity. And...

Re: Gretsch From the NAMM Show

Those solid shells are really nice, but that's a lot of money for a pre-distressed and inside-out drum...kinda gimicky

Re: Decal sticker removal from bass drum head??

Sounds like a big job. I use a hair dryer to remove stickers. You can soften the glue and peel back the sticker. This works great on most stickers. just don't heat it to much. However you have...

Re: Going with a 20 inch kick now

I really like my 20X17 Oak Custom kick. It's actually almost to loud for most of the playing I do. So I stick a small feather pillow in it to tame it. But the times I need the volume I just play it...

Re: Rock drummers are top athletes

If you look at how an athlete (baseball, soccer, swimming...) trains, they are building strength using, primarily, the bodies large muscle groups. Drumming uses small muscle groups for strength...

We should ask Paul Leim...

Re: Why do people treat their drums so badly?

I go to and get invited to jam sessions were they have drums set up and these drums are usually piles of crap. The owners of the drum aren't often drummers, but either way, they seem to proud of the...

Re: Our fixed qualities

I've come to the same realization. I've decided to take what I do well and really, really do it well.

I've given up on most of the intricate stuff that I'd like to learn for 2 reasons;
I) it...

Re: Paiste 2002, B8 but why do they sound so good?

I'm pretty sure it's the same B8 formula...that's what makes it a B8.

The reason for the difference in sound is because 2002's a are cast individually and to a very strict quality control. Were as...

Re: Craviotto Worth The Money?

So true. I use the same reasoning for driving a crappy car instead of the Porsche. And it would really suck on those days I take the bus :(
