Re: Anybody a Carter Beauford fan?

I always liked Carter Beauford. He never plays the same thing twice and totally passes it off while sounding great. Definately a funky player and a good musician.

Re: Most Under-rated Drummers

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Lenny White is a great drummer and you hardly ever hear of him. His work with Return to Forever is some of the defining work along with Cobham, Weckl, and...

Re: I'm here! - Billy Ward

Wow, Billy Ward, nice. Big fan, I've learned a lot from "Big Time", a great dvd.
Glad to see another pro here on the boards, gives us all a nice glimpse into a musician's personality and life.

Re: Keith Moon

I was never a fan of Keith Moon. His style is always so sloppy and, a lot of the time, overplayed. And if there's one groove that makes my blood boil it's definately "You Better", or at least I think...

Re: New Drummer: Anyone heard of him?!?

I watched his video on Gospel Chops and the kid's pretty talented. He really doesn't seem like the average "child prodigy" that you see whose parents exploit them and parade them around. He seems...

Re: Moeller Techique

Well you could search in Sam Goody. They generally have a lot of technique books, but if you want my opinion I'd invest the time and money to find a teacher to help you. Moeller technique is far from...

Re: Genie Krupa

I think they're both great in different aspects. Krupa pioneered drumming and is responsible for a lot of drumming today. Hell, we might not be on this forum if it wasn't for Krupa. And he was surely...

Re: What are the best shoes to play bass drum with?

I think that the ideal is in socks, but I'll be damned if I go to a gig without shoes. Adidas makes some really nice running shoes with goodyear rubber on the bottom that fir quite nicely. They're...

Re: The Grand Master BR

That's really true. I'll always remember one day when I was talking to a friend and he said, "Aww man, but look at Joey Jordison's solo. He spun around, that's really original and hard to do". And I...

Re: The Grand Master BR

He certainly is an influence to every drummer around today. It would be foolish to say that everyone, at least once, tried to do the hi-hat trick that he does in the Lost Westside Story Tapes.

Re: PROTECT YOUR EARS.

I wear shooting muffs. They work quite nicely, cutting down 32 decibels, and believe it or not, they actually cut out a lot of the echo I get from my basement. Because there is no soundproofing or...

Re: YOUR TOP 5: "Best Drumming Songs of all times..."

I can't order these things.

Festival de Ritmo- Dave Weckl
Sorceress- Return to Forever (Lenny White)
Oakland Stroke- Tower of Power (Dave Garibaldi)
Pal Treaux- Rx Bandits (Chris Tsagakis)...

Re: Travis Barker

Barker isn't a bad drummer but I don't think he's very good either. He gets done what he's supposed to do in his line of music, but he doesn't really try to innovate or improve like Wackerman or even...

Re: What is your favorite type of snare drum?

I generally go to Guitar Center and salivate over their 6 x 14 Tama Starclassic G Maple. It just sounds so great. But for now I have a 3 x 13 Pearl Maple pic which is suprisingly warm and fat. I like...

Re: Stick Twirling

Yeah, it's always nice when you can show off to your friends with a stick or something.

Re: Stick Twirling

I used to really like stick twirling. I even have a book/dvd called "Drumstick Spinology" and it was cool and all, but I sort of grew out of it. I use it for some things, and some of the spins have...

Re: Stanton Moore

I really do like Moore a lot. His style is very versatile and he always has a good groove going. I think his playing is so ideal because he doesn't do a lot of flashy fills but he has great pocket...

Re: tuning drums so snare doesnt buzz

There's really not much you can do about it, I find. Because sound is made of of waves of vibration, you can't really stop it without stopping the sound. They vibrate because of the waves and if you...

Re: Best drumming album of all time?

I like Dave Weckl's "Master Plan". He overplays, of course, but it's some really good stuff. "Pretzel Logic" is maybe my favorite Steely Dan album: the drumming is fantastic, and for one off the...
