Re: RIP Dennis St John

As a kid in the early '70s I air drummed to all the usual suspects but also, strangely enough, to several tracks off Hot August Night, especially Holly Holy. RIP.

Re: The evolution of the drumkit

I just looked up 'contraption' in the same book and it seems to be all just guesswork, Eddie-cated or not. So who knows... 'traps' from 'contraption' could be valid. On the other hand, maybe I should...

Re: Hardest Led Zep song on drums and why

From the Mick Wall biography:

"There was only one track on which the band consistently struggled and which they eventually came close to abandoning completely before a suitably 'refreshed' Bonzo...

Re: Simple trick to NEVER DROP A STICK AGAIN!

I dropped a stick once. I just didn't feel our relationship was going anywhere.

Sorry, the old ones are usually the best, I find. Not everyone agrees.

Re: Hi hat 'fills'? Any Youtube egs of them

Bonzo at the end of the guitar solo on the Song Remains The Same version of Rock and Roll. Straight sixteenths on open hi-hat and then on snare. Simple but beautiful. Of course, context is everything.

Re: Stargazer by Rainbow

There's a clip out there somewhere I came across a while back and the phrase he used was "ta-king-a-dump" or with an eighth note flam to start, "I'm--ta-king-a-dump." Of course, I've just googled...

Re: John Bonham

Jimmy Page mentions that very fill in the Traps Magazine piece on Bonzo (2007), referring to it, with serious understatement as "absolute magic."
