Live and Let Die

Hi guys,

I feel a bit stupid posting this but I'm a bit stuck.

I'm learning a set of Paul McCartney/Beatles tunes for a covers gig, one of which being Live and Let Die. Amazing song, I've...

Top 5 Top Lines for Melodic Solos

Hi all, I hope everyone is well.

I've recently been discovering a more melodic approach to the drums and adding more musical value to my practise time. On the advice of a good friend of mine I...

Re: Clive Deamer love

I'm disappointed that no other UK guys or even American's have added to this thread!

I'm a huge Clive Deamer fan and am lucky enough to know him too, I'm from his home town of Bristol. I'm also...

Re: So,I ported my "26...

I've ended up using a mixture of techniques with my 26" after so many failed attempts at tuning with no port and getting so much grief from sound engineers. I decided to port my reso head (coated...

Re: Practise Pad to Snare Drum Transition Issues

Sorry for the double post but can anyone recommend a pad that is designed for not having much rebound? Like a hard plastic surfaced pad?

Re: Practise Pad to Snare Drum Transition Issues

Thanks guys, great feedback. I think in conclusion I'm just going to practise loads more on my snare during the day, and if I have to do it at night I will just use a pillow or some form of dead...

Searching for Drums - Mixing Woods - Is it worth it?

Hi all,

I have a bit of a conundrum. For a long time now I have wanted to find a 12x8 rack tom to add to my Ludwig Classic Maple Green Sparkle kit without going through the expensive process of...

Re: Practise Pad to Snare Drum Transition Issues

Thanks, this really does help. I've always been aware that pads do have a lot of rebound, I went through a stage of practising singles, doubles and paradiddles on a foam chair which was hard work but...

Practise Pad to Snare Drum Transition Issues

Hi all,

I've been playing drums for about 6 or 7 years now. I've always been into my technical exercises and chop building but I have never been overly obsessive about it either as I learned...

Expensive for an individual drum?

Hi guys, my current set up is a Classic Maple Ludwig in Green Sparkle in the Bonham sizes, apart from the rack tom which is a more old school Bonham size of 14x12. This has become a bit of an issue...

Re: Great Paradiddle exercise

This is VERY similar to a Steve White warm up exercise.

Single Paradiddle (RLRR LRLL)
Double Paradiddle (RLRLRR LRLRLL)
Triple Paradiddle (RLRLRLRR LRLRLRLL)

Start with the snare then put the...

Re: 26x14 Kick

Felt strips are about 3-4" wide. I do tune the reso quite high but I'm afraid if I go any higher it will just make the ring worse. It's funny you say about moving the kit around the house, I did that...

26x14 Kick

Hi guys. I own a Ludwig Classic Maple set in Bonham sizes.
I'm still having an enormous amount of trouble becoming happy with the 26" kick drum.

Both issues are related, first obviously the...

Re: Tempus Drums - Thoughts?

I know a guy called Mark Fletcher in the UK who uses a Tempus kit, I know he likes it very much and he is a jazzer through and through. I don't know if there's any clips of him using it but check him...

Re: hitting two crashes at the same time?

It really doesn't matter. I guess it does depends on what cymbals you use, what kind of band you're in etc. I use Giant Beat Paiste's and play alot of rock, so if I hit two it'll be my 18" or 20"...
