Re: What is the slowest BPM song you enjoy playing

56 to 60 is about as slow as I want to go.

Check this out for super sloooooow. A classic called Lil Darlin', I think they're around 47 to 50bpm here. Skip to 0:33.

Re: On drums...Stewart Copeland!

There's no clips yet on youtube of it but here's something very cool.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjAi9yQyxpg

Love it when he says,
"Playing the drums are a joke. Anybody can do this!"

There was a very entertaining new one hour long documentary on the BBC tonight which hopefully will get to american screens soon. Any other UK members here see it?

It was Stewart Copeland...

Re: Rimshots on die cast hoops

Funny how things change. I said my diecast Gretsch would never be my go to snare. Haha, spoke too soon. It's become my go to snare! I've been playing it exclusively for the last couple of months and...

Re: Can't Help Falling Ron Tutt

I've transcribed it for you. Various sheet music show it in 12/8, 6/8 and even 4/4. I've done it in 6/8.

In my video, you'll hear it at a slow tempo, and then a faster tempo, closer to the...

Re: Zoom Q2N (Camera) questions.

The Focusrite mic Bo mentioned certainly looks like a very good product if you have an iphone. I have Android phones though. Maybe there's a similar product for Android.

Can you edit on a...

Re: Intro to 'Take it Easy'

Ah, I missed that one before. It's really good and threw me! Just now it took me many listens to figure out it starts on '+' of 1. It was easier to figure out when I heard the solo guitar riff again...

Re: Intro to 'Take it Easy'

Oh yeah, Take it easy threw me for a while, then once I heard where it started ('and' of 4) it all made sense. Then months later (well, now) listening to it again, I was hearing it wrong again, I'd...

Re: Jojo Mayer - Questions

You'll never play well if you don't use the same gear as the famous drummers. I bought the same drums as Benny Greb plays in this video and I can honestly say it's improved my playing tenfold.

Re: Do You Think...

I think one of the reason the bands named in the OP have endured is because they were the first, they were pioneers of their time. But they produced many exceptional and epic pieces of music. By the...

Re: Fixing Tempo Problems

I use liveBPM on every gig now, best 3 or however much it was I've ever spent. Gives you real-time feedback on your timing and a lot more confidence. I just put it on the floor to my left, it hears...

Re: Micing and Recording Tricks?

Very nice set up CB. I think you're entitled to a refund on the cymbals though, they're full of holes.

Re: Micing and Recording Tricks?

You'll be amazed how punchy the kick will sound once you add a compressor to it.

Try this for overheads, it's what I did with mine. Make each mic equidistant from the centre of the snare and the...

Re: Micing and Recording Tricks?

What everyone above said.

My home recording experience is limited compared to others here and I was disappointed at first with just close mics, everything sounded 'small'. it wasn't the great...

Re: Shariq Tucker (a young prodigy from the Bronx)

I do think he's amazing and enjoy watching his playing. Could you listen to him on a record and tell him apart from other Church style drummers (or any drummers) like you could tell Gadd from Bonham...

Re: Under Rated or Fairly Unknown Drummers

Indeed, he, Neal Wilkinson and Ash Soan, first call drummers in the UK. All have amazing time.

I'll mention Clem Cattini, one of the earlier UK session legends. Played on 44+ number 1 singles....

All good answers, particularly larry's.

I will just add, being at the gig in good time is another aspect of being a good drummer. A humorous quote with perhaps some element of truth from the...

Re: Robert "Sput" Searight

These are my two favourite Sput clips.

This one is not the same as on his DW roster page. The groove here is so tight.
