Re: snare lugs

I've never owned a drum with tube lugs so I can't say I'm tired of them :p

my pearl vision vb drums...

snare lugs

do you guys prefer a snare that has big lugs which connects two tension rods or a snare that has one small lug for each tension rod? I ask because I owned a snare with one lug per tension rod and I...

Re: for sale - east coast

what's a fair price for all this stuff?

I paid $700 for the cymbals, $600 for the drums, and $350 for the hardware less 10% = $1400 and I'm throwing in pdp double bass pedals so I paid...

Re: for sale - east coast

also I see this pack of cymbals going for $550-600 used. I'm asking $575.

I think my prices are good. hopefully...

Re: for sale - east coast

$1240 new? where? I...

Re: How do you count while playing drums?

sometimes I hum, but it's not a melody or a tune.. it's more of a monotone drawn out hum like "hhmmmmm".

I find it hard to count while playing and even harder to sing while playing (believe it or...

Re: for sale - east coast

idk just bad luck I guess. I was in a heavy part of the building loading trailers and I hurt my achllies, shoulder, and what feels like the side of my tailbone. luckily those things are healing, but...

Re: for sale - east coast

but you don't get double bass pedals. honestly for all the gear I think it's a fair price.

I'm trying to stop this vicious cycle lol. also I do need the money because I recently quit my job...

Re: for sale - east coast

the drums sound great and stay in tune and the cymbals are everything you'd expect from zildjian. it's actually a really nice kit, I just don't want such expensive gear. I really want to move this...

Re: Drum Tuning Like This

as a rule of thumb my snare and kick heads (batter and resonate) get two half turns up from finger tight then I go from there.

Re: PDP X7 drumset

I like clear single ply heads on poplar drums. coated single ply heads also sound good. poplar has a surprisingly nice tone but it's not as tight or controlled as some other woods. I bet that finish...

Re: worth it?

my silly choice of words is to prepare myself for bad news that may come. I'm not all bad luck though, this set actually came in like new condition and the cymbals with barley any blemishes (which is...

Re: worth it?

I'm sticking with this kit for now. luckily only the hoop and wrap was damaged and not the drum itself. I'm going to get a new hoop. if the drum is fine I'll get over the scuffs.

is there anyway...

Re: worth it?

I got a pearl vision vb set. luckily they pack their drums pretty well so I didn't have any significant damage.. till I got to the 16" drum. one hoop jammed on the drum and it doesn't fit the drum...

Re: worth it?

so here's what's happening. the powerhouse set is pretty good. the toms and kick sound great, but the snare is choked. I think it's the lugs on it. I'm getting a different set since this one arrived...

Re: worth it?

what do you guys think? does it look like poplar or basswood? they look built well, but the wraps are a bit scuffed up. I also have two big knicks on the bass from shipping the floor tom in the bass...
