Re: What to practice without drums

Here's a video you might find useful, from Spikedrummer:

Also, for quiet practice pads, I recommend this one:

Re: Playing in multiple bands?

Yeah, this is definitely true. I'm eventually going to cut it down, depending on what band decides to take it one step further and start recording/gigging more often.

And, I absolutely hate it...

Playing in multiple bands?

I have a bit of a situation currently. I've just been invited to my 4th band, and I'm trying to work out how to be playing in 4 at once :/

So, I was wondering. Is it a good or a bad thing to be...

Re: Brann Dailor

I love Brann Dailor's style! He's a really powerful and intense drummer. I recently listened to all of "Crack the Skye" and my mind was BLOWN. I hadn't really discovered Mastodon until earlier this...

Re: Chris Maitland

Of course! I was almost pushed away from older PT because Gavin wasn't there, but then I learned to like Maitland a bit more :)

Re: making faces when playing

I played a gig one time. My entire attitude when playing changed. At home, I tend to focus more on getting technique right, so I don't think about what face I'm making. But, put an audience in front...

Re: Underrated Drummers

I'd say Pat Skeffington of Scale the Summit. They're a progressive instrumental band, they toured with Dream Theater last year. He's phenomenal, and relatively unknown.

Re: Joey Jordison named best drummer of past 25 years

I don't think Joey deserved #1, but he did deserve to be on the list. I honestly expected all of Mike Portnoy's fans to band together and vote him #1. And hell, I was surprised Gavin Harrison was on...

Re: Mike Portnoy

I got to shake Mike's hand at one of the shows he played with HAIL! earlier this year. It was a very small club show, only like 75 people were there, despite Mike being there.

The show was great,...

Re: Chris Maitland

I'm not sure exactly what cymbals he used, but I did recently see an old PT video with Maitland. He was using a DW brand kit...has a pretty nifty drum solo too:

Re: Sean Reinert

Sean Reinert is a very creative and unique drummer. He's also extremely underrated, in my opinion. Most of my drummer friends have never heard of him, but were very impressed with his style and...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin,

I was wondering what you think is the best thing for a young progressive rock/metal drummer to study/practice. I want to master more progressive techniques without developing bad...
