Re: New Yamaha light hardware

My buddy got a set. It's pretty amazing. Not sure how durable it actually is, but as I close in on 40 years old and still have a couple gigs that require me to load in up stairs, I'm giving these a...

I know the sound you are thinking of, and agree that those are definitely some...

Re: is a lack of fills a problem for a first gig?

Lack of fills will get you a CALL BACK.

Play the song, not the drums.

I've been gigging for 20 years with all kinds of bands. If you want to get a call back, stay out of the way of the song.

Re: Cocktail Kits. Why??

Bold opinion, but I appreciate your attitude. I have tried several times to "get it" myself. I got a sweet deal on a Yamaha cocktail kit back in 2005, and tried to find a reason to play it. Kept it...

Re: INDe Drums Jazz Kit

I ordered a Sonor L-rod like this http://www.lonestarpercussion.com/Stands-Hardware/Parts/Sonor-14594166-L-Rod-Lift-for-Bass-Drum.html and had him drill a mount for it.

Totally agree with you...

Re: INDe Drums Jazz Kit

He developed a tom mount which allows you to control the amount of resonance based on where the clamp is set. Pretty cool. In the pic, the rack tom is just on a snare stand, but I'm hanging it on an...

INDe Drums Jazz Kit

Hey all,

It's been a long time since I've posted, and even longer since I bought a kit worth showing, but here is a beautiful custom built jazz kit from INDe Drum Lab http://www.indedrum.com/....

Re: Synthetic head bongos

I tried x-ray film, but it didn't sound as good to me as the Nuskyn head. I would highly recommend those. I've had the same remo heads on my bongos for about 5 years. They are impervious to weather...

Al Foster
Rick Marotta
Manu Katche
Gretsch...

Amazing drummer I just got turned on to via youtube... Always surprised by folks I've never heard of. The irony is that he's played on a couple albums I have, but I just never read the liner notes.
