Re: How do you not hear your bass drum?

I have played with my main band many a set where in some clubs I could not hear what my bass drum was doing. Sure I could somewhat tell (and yes I hit very hard on the bass drum) but there was not a...

Re: Are 13" toms obsolete?

I have 13" toms on my Gretsch and Rogers kits. I dig them. I also dig the more classic bass drum depth of 14". I recently got back behind my main kit with an 18" deep kick and yeah I feel the...

Did you buy the Signet kit that was in Ebony? I was looking at that kit hard for a while myself as I live in Raleight and frequent that GC all the time. FWIW I don't like that Guitar Center much...

The Ludwig looks like a standard series. Have you checked here:

Re: Ludwig Keystone Bracket (P7202AP) retrofit

Go for the atlas mount. I have a club date from the 60's and had the same issue.

Re: Sonor SQ2 Snare

Really need some information here. Shell size, material, thickness...

I can only give you input on my SQ2 snare which is likely much different than yours.

Re: Cracked my floor tom leg bracket! :-(

I fixed a cracked batter side snare hoop with JB weld. Not very pretty but worked well enough to finish my session.

Re: Is Tama Imperialstar a good choice for beginners?

I really don't like either of those sets but that is just me. I have bought at least 3 drum kits from Thomann and was happy with all my purchases.

The first acoustic kit I purchased from Thomann...

I am sure you guys have seen this:

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Bermuda

Great point on the outer ply being a part of the finish. Somewhat like my '67 kit where the wrap is part of the shell.

I have no doubts this kit will sound great and yes most kits...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Yeah I have to talk to the guys at GC. They also could have been tuned better. I usually keep a drum key on my key chain otherwise I would have helped them. I would still say G1clears or coated.

Re: Ludwig Classic Maples or DW (with resale value in mind)

I saw a set of Gretsch USA customs for $1k on ebay besides the many nice vintage Ludwig kits. If you wanted a nice US made kit you could even go the Ludwig Signet route on the cheap.

For me I...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maples or DW (with resale value in mind)

Drums are not the most expensive part. Trust me its the regular replacement items like drum heads, sticks and if you are a hard hitter cymbals.

Re: Some middle class drum set?

If you live near Thomann or Session musik I would go to either one. Both have a huge selection. I bought 3 drumsets from Thomann and one from Session. You can get a B stock drumset cheaper than...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

I played the kit for about 15 minutes today at GC. Loved the bass drum. The toms were almost up in the bop range and could have used something other than Remo ebony heads. Other than that a great...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

This kit is sooo tempting! Now if I only didn't already have 7 kits. Also lost one of my practice spaces so I had to move that kit back to the mother ship. FWIW this is coming from someone who owns...

Re: Keep my Roger's kit or sell it?

Keep it if you like it or sell it if you don't. Personally I dig my Rogers kit but its from the 60's and a totally different animal. Play what you like and can justify putting money into.
