Re: Tee Drums / Alan Tocknell anyone know 'em ?

Agree, I would have if I was in that area of the UK still.

Re: Tee Drums / Alan Tocknell anyone know 'em ?

I had some (brief) contact with Alan last year, the reason why it was brief I will explain.

Got all excited to find a drum maker miles away from my hometown in Gloucestershire, I contacted Alan by...

Re: London Drum Show - they listened!

Good stuff, glad they listened to feedback. It was very intense.

You know you have an issue when drummers complain about the noise!!

Will look forward to it again.

Re: Any pre gig routine?

No routine as such

Normally my pre gig time is spent rushing from work to whatever London venue we're playing. If I get some time I'll listen to recordings on route (if we're doing any new songs)...

Re: I was wrong.

Just found it, pm me your email and I'll send a photo over to you. It's in the November 2013 issue with Ray Luzier on the front cover.

Also, PM me your address and I'll post you the issue to keep...

Re: First Rehearsal Jitters

Spot on, I sometimes do the same (mostly in studio situations where playing is under the microscope and for whatever reason I feel negative about that day) and it's such a simple technique to do.

Re: I was wrong.

I'll get a photo taken of the article when I track down where in the house I put the issue. It's a brief write up (as they didnt have a kit to test) but it's a mention in Modern Drummer, the most...

Re: Why Do Bands Have Two Drummers?

It's very poor camera work and even more horrible, out of sync editing. The MP3 is good for a listen though.

Re: How often do you break/drop your sticks?

I havent dropped a stick in years in a live setup. At home it happens from time to time as I try more risky fills/beats.

I hit hard but have not broken a stick in about 10 years as I replace them...

Re: Soundguys and drummers

I play the frantic London venue circuit with a couple of my bands and we very rarely get a souncheck.

My only interaction with the soundmen tends to be a quick "Hello, how are you" from me when...

Re: Why Do Bands Have Two Drummers?

I like it on some songs, but not a whole show.

One of my bands want to double track some drums to add more of a percussive element but when we have tried it in demos it doesnt work. Has to be...

Re: I was wrong.

Good news Andy,

About the above, well I was surprised the other month to open Modern Drummer and find a short feature on Guru.

I'd say the big boys are starting to take note.

Keep it up

Re: An attempt at a policy change here

I've no problem hearing about Guru drums and Andy's updates, I love hearing about them as he obviously has a massive enthusiasm about his company. Talking from experience as someone that's played...

Re: Most Under-rated Drummers

Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys

Listen to

'Pretty Visitors' and 'Brianstorm'

Both serious tracks that require a lot of stamina. Must have been a pain getting a take of each track.

Re: Good day/bad day check-in

Absolutely fantastic day today.

One day only in the studio (with about 3 available hours I could offer) to setup, check and nail two songs. Been nervous about recording these numbers as they are...

Re: In the gigging bag...

If its a kit share and I'm not providing one of mine then its quite basic.

Other than snare, cymbals & pedal I'll have my stick bag, Hi hat clutch, cymbal washers, some moongel, a screwdriver, a...

Re: The virtues of gigging - or otherwise

I'm currently gigging about 2/3 times a week, I am at present in three original bands and I live about 70miles outside London (which is my main gigging city) and I have a really high pressured job in...

Re: Losing that second crash cymbal

I haven't used a second crash in a live situation in a while. Initially for convenience getting to gigs in London and the cymbal bag being slightly lighter, but found that I didn't really miss having...

Re: London forum meet up - multi member thread :)

A few twigs fell on the ground overnight and we're in Hampshire, one of the worse areas to be hit by the storm, according to the media.

Didn't justify me spending an hour on the weekend securing...

Re: Good day/bad day check-in

Bad day, the fiancÚ dragged me round shops all day as we're decorating our bedroom over the next couple days. By the sixth hour, looking at cushions, I had to call it a day.

But then we had a...

Re: Giving away my first kit.

That's really kind of you. Big respect.

I know I would struggle to give away my first kit due to the sentiment but hats off to you. Always good to see some kindness in the world.

Re: Was Lars' double-bass on the track Dyers Eve a fraud?

Regarding the actual recording (or non recording) of the tracks I might have to give him the benefit of the doubt, without any of us being there it might have been pressure off the band to put that...

Re: Worst drum kit in the history of mankind...

I gig in London a couple of times a week at the moment and this is a regular thing, which is a shame.

Just today the band have been discussing a gig where the bands on the lineup are advised to...

I think my video on the last thread said a lot Ben, despite the footage being taken from about three feet away you can still hear people from the Premier Stand going all out.

I blame Keith Moon's...
