Re: Sometimes, it all becomes so worthwhile :)

Congratulations!

Getting feedback like that must feel great - if not a little frustrating too :)

The word is out, so that's a good thing. Keep grinding!

Re: A 6.5 Supralite is finally in my hands

I went and got myself the 6.5" Supralite. I thought about it for a day or two, then called up the only shop in town that carries them and they told me they had one last drum on the shell, so I just...

Re: Loud drums

My take on the whole acrylics thing - at least with my 70s Vistalites, the newer ones may be different - is that the drums don't really sound that good on lower dynamics. They only start to open up...

Re: I got the gig!

That's great!

Finding good people to play with and the right kind of music to go along - ain't that easy.

Congratulations and may you enjoy your new band :)

Re: Big maple fun :)

I'll echo what the others said..

The set sounds huge. Especially the bass drum - damn!

Re: Blurred lines ripped off the "feel"

That's cool. I love a good live band, but I don't have that much interest for the not-so-good ones. Unless people I know are playing, obviously :D

But I also enjoys me a good dj set, there's quite...

Re: Blurred lines ripped off the "feel"

That's the thing, the guys chopping up jazz are not the ones making big dollars. The big dollars are made in the club scene, and that's a whole 'nother ball game where it's mostly drum machines and...

Re: How to make my vintage ludwig sound better

One other thing to consider also - unless your ear is highly trained and knows exctly what it needs to hear - is that when your drums sound just right (warmish) sitting in the driver's seat they...

Re: Blurred lines ripped off the "feel"

You know, I wouldn't really see myself going to see a gig with just one guy playing the drums, either.

A sampler is more of a sequencer than a live instrument. Of course, it can also be used as a...

Re: Blurred lines ripped off the "feel"

100% disagree

Is photography not art, then? Or collage techniques?

The whole "if you sample, you are not a real musician" -thing is just really tiresome..
I would very much rather have a J...

Re: Going to Istanbul!

I was in Turkey a couple of years ago - not in Istanbul tho - and the main thing to do is to TALK THE PRICE DOWN! That's how they operate down there. Seriously, they get offended if you don't try to...

Re: The legendary sweet spot

I've posted it before, but I made an A-B-C test with the Acrolite shell which showcases this. I hung it from the butt plate and played the shell with a mallet, both from the inside and the outside....

Re: Crazy hard work has it's compensations - my playground :)

I wonder how it would sound if you threw a bunch of superballs bouncing around in there ;)

Looking pristine and fresh as ever. I really enjoy these pics, keep em coming!

Re: Rock albums with modern production and a great vintage drum sound

I really like the drum sound on this particular track by Them Crooked Vultures, "No One Loves Me and Neither Do I"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YvXJFh5IuE

I think it's actually pretty raw and...

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

Maybe it's all in my head lol
All I know is that everytime I walk into a studio or a music shop I can feel the smell.

Love reading these stories, it's definitely a trip down memory lane! This is...

Re: Sorry - this just had to be posted!

That is beautiful!

I rarely do any woodworking nowadays, but I know the feeling you get once you get to the stage where you've brought the grain/surface of the wood to life like that... Love it!

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

My father was (is) a musician so when I was a kid I got to hang a bit in all these rehearsal spaces, studios, clubs etc. I remember I was always fascinated with the drum set, because it was not just...

I don't think anybody said that you have to have one. Nor did anyone claim it to be essential in any way. This is merely a thread for people who have found them to be helpful in one way or another to...

This is exactly how I feel also. Get your body loose and your mind tight, that's the trick.

Perhaps when they started getting a bit older and more acquainted with the laws of gravity, or had physical issues that need dealing with?

I strained my back pretty badly with no apparent reason...
