Andy the heart wood in those ash blocks is obviously a different color ...almost redish....would you guys use this wood in other areas of building ..such as segmented hoops....stave... for two...

Almost every day I play my kit, 3 days a week I use a met at slow speeds,trying to get down to 40 bpm, I am finding hard,[100 is easier],but easier than last week and the week before getting all 4...

Early 70s have a 3 ply shell,maple poplar, mahogany.The new Legacy series also have 3 ply shell,I'am not sure if they used mahogany,.....maple,poplar,maple..The later 70s Ludwig went with 6...

This is a photo of laun that is used as a sub floor it comes in 4x8 sheets.As Harry said it is stringy..Lighter in color than African.

I did a mahogany tom and one of the mistakes I made was,I should have sprayed the clear coat on instead of using a brush.The thinner the clear coat the better result i believe..
