Re: Hal Blaine's Monster set w/ Donn Bennett

The Donn's kit is number one, or number two? Might be who knows, unless Blaine authenticated it, and then its whatever 'he' says it is. The kicks could've have been switched up, be interesting to...

Re: Joe Wong: How Do Drummers Navigate Through Life?

Great interview, and yeah, not you're average 'domestic' approach.

Its great we drummers have someone doing this. This isn't an interview IMO, its someone documenting history.

Re: Are my hoops at fault?

There are die cast marching hoops w/o ears, but your lugs are pot metal, they'll be ripped apart by hi tension.

I would definitely check all the lugs on that drum for distortion, especially since...

Re: Oriollo Phantom, spun aluminum

5.5" the perfect balance between (playing) response and tone in a spun shell. Sounds nice.

Is that the new badge, or the leather one still?

Re: Yamaha Drums

Not good, wrapping a YAMAHA lacquer finish, even the grey RC's which are collectable now. Please do not wrap any YAMAHA lacquer finish as they're all works of art, sell them first. YAMAHA doesn't let...

Re: Am I the ONLY guy that likes the sound of poplar drums?

With all the love and praise for the golden era ROGERS kits, Im wondering why co's aren't making maple/birch shells, or is somebody?

Re: Timing test

Laptop (low action) keyboards will produce a higher score.

896 on an APPLE keyboard (which has really hi action), need to try this on my phone.

Re: Looking for some kind of visual metronome slave unit

'Studio overdubs' would surely include the vocal tracks right? Let them do the final vocal track in the studio.

Its either/or. Energy from the crowd, they need to get their part(s)/timing right....

Re: Are my hoops at fault?

Most ppl just assume 'die cast' means strength, but they 'are not' die cast hardened steel, they bend easily at/around the ears under hi tension.

Flanges provide strength in a steel hoop along...

Re: Yamaha Phoenix potential purchase

Heavy and I agree, a lot of sound. Analogous to using a 30mm cannon for hunting squirrels.

Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

More drums means more tonal possibilities.

I think if some pros (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls7G2YWBZ0A) had to hump their stuff they 'might' opt for smaller kits.

Altho IMO humping an...

Re: Yamaha Phoenix potential purchase

PHX is a stay at hm/studio kit unless you have a roadie.

I wouldn't. The honeymoon would be short lived. You're giving up two kits to get 3 drums? Teal Burst probably 'my' least favorite finish...

Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

Ummmmm, sorta kinda, but not quite manly enough in louder situations.

I say bring back the 11"

11 13 16 could easily be the new black.

Re: No tip jar, still getting tips

Would like to see your set lists, i'll bet there's songs more boring to play than Free Bird.

... and what about that famous request- "Will you please stop playing and go home".

Re: Congradulations To Ringo On His Induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Someone should start/open 'The Hall Of Fame of Rock', give the RRHOF some (needed) competition.

Re: Funkiest 3/4 ever..

Norwegian Wood as a waltz, but no drums in it and if you played drums on it you'd play it in 6... maybe in near future at old ppls parties (the boomers are aging) NW will be a waltz beat on drums.

Get it, sell the 8" and use the money to buy a matching 13

10 13 16 will not disappoint.
