Re: Best way to clean drums?

Take a damp cloth to them.

Seriously.

Just make sure it's not sopping wet. That you're not leaving a great lake's worth of excess water on them. And you've got nothing to worry about. Maybe a...

Re: Pratice Pad

Not unless it's bothering you.

When all is said and done, physically there's nothing that you can do on a 12" pad that can't be done on an 8".

That said, I do have a 6" pad that bounces around...

Re: Hand-Kick independence

It's already hurting the OP though.

He's just been presented with some of the best exercises available in order to separate his hands and feet. It is a direct and immediate solution to his...

Re: Two tom mounts.......

You don't.

You remove a lug and replace it with an ATLAS mount instead. It still does the job of a lug, but has the ability to mount on to an L-arm too.
...

Re: Two tom mounts.......

What sort of lugs are on the Maxwin? If they are short Pearl lugs, then potentially, you could replace one of your lugs with a Ludwig ATLAS mount.

This would allow you to keep the Pearl mount...

Re: Playing good vs. Sounding good?

Save the money you're about to spunk on a compressor (and everything else that will be needed to go with it) and spend it on lessons.

At the moment you're "all show and no go" as the old saying...

Re: Cool Drumming (The Wrong Kind!)

Too much thought put into your cymbals. They'll be fine.

Not enough thought put into your choice of drink. Tea does not come in flasks....it comes in pots. Whisk(e)y, however. Well, let's just say...

Re: Ever had a band you just couldn't like

Rush.

Lord knows I've tried. I own 2112 and Moving Pictures and once every 18 months or so I pull them out and try again. Unfortunately, I just can't cop 'em.

It's not the playing. Musically...

Hey!

You don't look like a smug, middle class boomer at all!

I mean, sure, you look smug.......and middle class......but there's absolutely no way you're a boomer!!

That fragile dude...

Re: How do I position each of the drums in the kit?

A rack? Come on man. Seriously.

I just posted this in the bell thread. I really hate to be redundant and repost it here, but it's pertinent and I reckon you need to see it. You're losing your way...

Re: Gretsch Catalina 16 floor tom

I was about to offer a resounding, no, to this question.

But then I read this and it all came flooding back.

I'd forgotten all about those shitty FT feet. They were an utter joke. Mine had...

Re: How do I position each of the drums in the kit?

I've seen far worse.

The glaring one is your floor tom. It looks like it's in the next post code. Bring it over closer to your right leg.

Your cymbals also look like they could be crowding you...

Re: Guess what I just bought! Hint: Ludwig, Bonham, Vistalite, Amber.

Are they your drums?

If so, have those little fractures gotten worse over the last two years or are they relatively stable?

Re: Sound isolation

You "came across" no such thing.

It's your site mate. Blind Freddy can see that. Just be up front about it. No need to treat people like they're stupid. It just doesn't bode well. The forum loves...

Re: Ive got a weird thing thats bugging me. Shell depth

You haven't done this already?

How do you know that they're different depths without having done so?

A shell depth (and diameter) is measured from bearing edge to bearing edge. Not from hoop to...

Re: Should I say something? If so, how?

Depends how well I knew them.

If we were on reasonably friendly terms, I might throw something in in passing.
If I didn't really know them from Adam, I doubt I'd say anything at all.

Re: It's official! I'm a Metal Head!

Wash your mouth out!!

Maiden and Priest are metal in any language.

Sabbath helped invent the genre.....so, they're in.....and then Ozzy gets in by default.

VH and QR? OK, I'll give you...

Re: Since Hal Blaine has passed.....

I remember Derek talking about Dyers Eve being cut and spliced a ridiculous number of times in order to get a balanced and cohesive drum track. I don't recall him saying anything about another player...

Re: Since Hal Blaine has passed.....

Where's the wishful thinking?

The only thing I admitted to "not knowing" was whether or not Allan Schwartzberg ghosted Peter Criss. But I admitted that it's possible as it's already an established...

Re: Since Hal Blaine has passed.....

Sure it does. To some degree. Just ask a guy like Josh Freese.

But has he played on as many recognised "hits" as Blaine? I think blind Freddy can answer that one for us. The industry has changed....
